  • Publication number: 20120025799
Abstract: The disclosed embodiments of voltage regulators incorporate a current mode control architecture. In one embodiment, a comparator mechanism triggers a transition in a power switch when the error in the regulated output voltage is equal to a proportionally scaled value of current provided at an output filter. The voltage regulator includes a power switch having an input and an output. The power switch is configured to provide a first voltage during a first conduction period and a second voltage during a second conduction period. An output filter is coupled between the power switch output and an output terminal to be coupled to a load. A comparator mechanism has a reference input coupled to a reference voltage, a feedback input coupled to sense a feedback voltage at the output filter, a current sensing input coupled to sense a current sensing voltage corresponding to a current provided to the output filter, and an output in communication with the power switch input.

  • Publication number: 20110112385
Abstract: A method and apparatus for dating a body sample, for example a sample of body fluid involves taking a series of spectroscopic measurements of the sample, each measurement in the series including at least two predetermined positions in the spectrum. The positions have spectral characteristics corresponding to two or more predetermined substances present in the sample that have a time varying relationship with each other. The measurements in the series are spaced in time. A concentration of each of the substances present in the sample is then determined from each of the spectroscopic measurements at each point in time. Next, a ratio of the concentrations of the two predetermined substances at each point in time is determined and then the ratios of the concentrations of the two predetermined substances over time are analysed to estimate when the concentrations of the two substances were at a limit of their concentrations, thereby providing an indication of the age of the sample.

  • Patent number: 7356872
Abstract: A vacuum device has a housing. The housing forms an inlet opening and an outlet opening. The housing also forms a viewable compartment for retaining refuse vacuumed by the device. A vacuum motor is located in the housing. The vacuum motor has a suction inlet and a vent outlet. The suction inlet is connected to the viewable compartment. The suction inlet is also connected to the inlet opening of the housing. The vent outlet of the vacuum motor is to the outlet opening of the housing. An electric circuit of the device is connected to the vacuum motor. The electric circuit is connected to a sensor and includes a microcontroller. The sensor, for example, an infrared beam and detector, triggers the electric circuit, and programmed control by the microcontroller, when the beam is broken and not detected by the detector. When the beam is broken, the sensor signals the microcontroller and the microcontroller logically powers-on the vacuum motor to suction the refuse into the housing.

  • Patent number: 7350258
Abstract: A system for cleaning includes a handle and a head having a cleaning surface. The head is connected to the handle and is extendable to selectively widen or narrow the cleaning surface. A gear is fixedly connected to the handle and rotatingly connected to the head, so that twist of the handle rotates the gear. A first series of extension gears operably connect to the gear, and a second series of extension gears also operably connect to the gear. Rotation of the gear via the handle, rotates the first series and the second series. A first head extension is operably connected to the first series, such that rotation of the first series swings the first head extension into laterally aligned extension of the head. A second head extension is operably connected to the second series, such that rotation of the second series swings the second head extension also into laterally aligned extension of the head.

  • Publication number: 20060266605
Abstract: A reel includes a reel drum enclosed within a housing comprising a first housing portion, a second housing portion, and a middle housing portion positioned therebetween. A spindle member has a first end connected to the first housing portion and a second end connected to the second housing portion. The spindle member extends through an opening in the drum so that the drum is rotatable about a spindle axis defined by the spindle member. The middle housing portion encircles the drum and has an aperture through which linear material can extend, the linear material of a type that may be spooled on the drum. The middle housing portion is rotatable about the spindle axis independently of the drum. In preferred embodiments, the reel is a cord reel and the linear material is electrical cord. In preferred embodiments, the middle housing portion is rotatable at least 360° about the spindle axis. In preferred embodiments, the drum is powered by an electric motor.

  • Publication number: 20060267467
Abstract: A method and system for assisting in the storage and retrieval of objects includes a pulling handle and a base that support the movement of an upper-to-lower arm across a roller mechanism. This causes the upper-to-lower arm to rise. A lower-to-upper arm pivotally hinges to upper-to-lower arm and lower-to-upper arm slides in a groove of the base to exert a general upward motion of pans occurs.

  • Publication number: 20060266868
Abstract: A reel assembly comprises a drum configured to rotate about a drum axis. The drum is configured to receive a linear material wrapped around a spool surface thereof as the drum rotates about the drum axis. A housing substantially encloses the drum, wherein a portion of the housing defines an aperture configured to receive the linear material therethrough. A reciprocating mechanism connects to the drum and reciprocatingly rotates the drum relative to the shell about a generally vertical axis as the drum rotates about the drum axis.

  • Publication number: 20050084580
Abstract: A system for baking includes a generally concave pan having an upper opening and a generally concave lid engageable with the pan to cover the upper opening. The pan and the lid each have a substantially uniform and thin thickness. If the pan and lid are aluminum, the thickness is on the order of about 1.4 mm to about 2 mm. If the pan and lid are stainless steel, the thickness is about 0.4 mm to about 0.7 mm. When the lid is engaged with the pan, an enclosure is formed that provides fast heat transfer through the enclosure walls and also provides ready internal heat circulation achieving convective heating inside the enclosure. The pan can have a fixed handle, and the top can have a fixed implement groove or attachment. The top engages the pan via locating at least one detent inside the pan outer edge with at least one notch in a rim of the top. The system is re-useable for cooking multiple times. The pan of the system can serve as a serving dish.
