Abstract: A system and a method embed multimedia controls and indications in a webpage which may provide access to internet media content. The multimedia controls and indications embedded in the webpage may be accessible using a standard web browser and may enable a user of the standard web browser to invoke enhanced media functions for internet media content available through the webpage. The enhanced browser functions may include redirection of the internet media content to a rendering device in a home network, and the rendering device may be a different device than the browser terminal. The enhanced browser functions may include downloading the internet media content to a media server or other local storage device in the network, and the media server and the other local storage device may each be a different device than the browser terminal.

Abstract: A system and a method for managing media content using a dynamic playlist are provided. The system has a media server which offers a dynamic queue of media objects to be played by a media playback device using a playlist of generic URLs. The content of the dynamic queue may be modified or adapted by the media server after the playlist is delivered to the media playback device or while the media playback device is simultaneously playing media objects from the queue using the playlist. The system and method provide that the media server may adapt the list of media objects referenced by a playlist after the playlist is delivered, despite the media server not having access to edit the delivered playlist. The media server may provide a dynamic media service to any media playback device which supports one or more standard, well-known playlist formats.

The system and the method enable a user to control media rendering from multiple storage devices and/or multiple servers connected to the home network using the mobile device. The system and the method enable a user to control media rendering on multiple rendering devices connected to the home network using the mobile device. The system and the method have a control element hosted on a fixed, non-mobile device connected directly to the home network or connected to the home network as a stand-alone device.
