  • Patent number: 4452849
Abstract: Novel phosphonic acid salts produced from ethane- or methanephosphonic acid, dicyandiamide and/or guanidine and optionally ammonia and corresponding to the formula ##STR1## wherein n, p, q, t and y are each 1 or 2, are particularly suitable for fireproofing organic fibre materials. Synthetic and/or cellulose-containing fibre materials are treated with an aqueous solution of the phosphonic acid salts and are then dried preferably at 60.degree. to 200.degree. C. The applied phosphonic acid salts impair only negligibly the textile-mechanical properties of the treated fibre materials, especially of the cellulose-containing fibre materials dried at 120.degree. to 150.degree. • Patent number: 4413998
Abstract: Process for the treatment of textile fibre materials with foams, which contain (a) a first surface-active agent with a HLB value of 0.1 to 10.0, for example a fatty alcohol which can be ethoxylated, and is a major constituent, (b) a second surface-active agent with a HLB value of more than 8.5, as a minor constituent, the HLB value being at least 3.0 units higher than that of component (a), for example an alkali metal or ammonium salt of a fatty acid, of an alkylarylsulfonic acid, of an alkylsulfonic acid, of a sulfuric acid alkyl ester or of a glycol-ether-sulfate, or a fatty acid/alkanolamine reaction product or an ethoxylated fatty alcohol, and (c) a dye, a fluorescent brightener and/or a textile chemical.

  • Patent number: 4408995
Abstract: A process for dyeing or finishing textile fibre material using foam, which process comprises applying to said materials an aqueous foam composition which, in addition to containing dye or finishing agent, contains a foamable system comprising water and at least(A) an anionic surfactant and(B) a non-ionic block polymer based on ethylene oxide and propylene oxide units. The material is then dried, if desired, and then subjected to a heat treatment, preferably a steam treatment. Level dyeings with good penetration of dye and/or excellent finishes are obtained on the material.

  • Patent number: 4365967
Abstract: A method of treating, especially dyeing, whitening and/or finishing, textile fabrics, in particular carpets, with an aqueous foamed composition which, in addition to containing dye or fluorescent whitening agent and/or finishing agent, contains a foam stabilizer, a foam regulator, and, optionally, other assistants. The aqueous composition employed contains(a) 1 to 4 g/liter of an anionic or non-ionic surfactant, or a mixture thereof, as foam stabilizer, and(b) 0.1 to 1 g/liter of an oxyalkylene-siloxane copolymer as foam regulator, said foam having a blow ratio of (6 to 20).1, applying said foam continuously, in the form of at least one layer, to the textile fabric, if desired vacuuming said fabric to effect penetration of the layer of foam through the fabric, and subsequently subjecting the fabric to a steam treatment.Level dyeings with good penetration and/or excellent finishes are obtained on the treated textile fabrics.

  • Patent number: 4312914
Abstract: The subject of the invention is a process for coating porous webs, wherein an aqueous, spreadable composition which has a pH value of 3 to 6 and contains at least (A) an emulsion copolymer comprising (a) an alkyl acrylate, (b) acrylonitrile, (c) an ethylenically unsaturated aliphatic carboxylic acid and/or the unsubstituted or methylated N-methylolamide of these carboxylic acids and (d) optionally another copolymerizable unsaturated compound which is free from acid groups, (B) an organic solvent which is insoluble to at most slightly soluble in water and has a boiling point between 50.degree. and 160.degree. C. and a molecular weight of 50 to 160, and (C), if desired, a polyfunctional crosslinking aminoplast precondensate or epoxide, is applied to the web, dried and then cured, the web also being impregnated if desired, either before or after coating, but prior to curing, with an agent for imparting hydrophobic and/or oleophobic properties, and dried. The coatings are stable to drycleaning.

  • Patent number: 4297400
Abstract: A process for imparting to textile materials a soft handle finish is disclosed, wherein an acid amide of the formulaCH.sub.2 .dbd.C(X)--CO--NH--R.sub.1or a reaction product from acrylic or methacrylic acid, or the lower alkyl esters of these acids, and an amine of the formulaR.sub.1 --NH.sub.2is used as a soft-handle agent. R.sub.1 is alkyl or alkenyl having 14 to 22 carbon atoms, and X is hydrogen or methyl. There is preferably produced from the acid amide and commercial emulsifiers and wetting agents, in a novel composition, a concentrated high-pressure emulsion, which is diluted to give an aqueous preparation that is applied to the textile materials.
