  • Patent number: 8888169
Abstract: A motor vehicle structure includes a metallic base body in the form of a three-dimensional metal sheet and a reinforcement element made of fiber composite having a matrix resin for coupling the reinforcement element with the base body in a coupling zone by a material joint. Arranged between the base body and the reinforcement element is a non-woven having voids through which the matrix resin is able to permeate.

  • Publication number: 20120211959
Abstract: A stabilizer for installation onto a motor vehicle axle includes a stabilizer back and two legs which are connected to the stabilizer back to form a U-shaped, or C-shaped, or other suitably shaped structure. The stabilizer back is made of a composite material such as fiber composite, e.g. of glass fibers, carbon fibers, basaltic fibers, and metallic fibers.

  • Publication number: 20120077402
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a semi-finished textile product, particularly a prepreg, from carbon fibers preimpregnated with a matrix material, includes the steps of manufacturing non-woven fabric having at least 10% carbon fibers and/or a fleece having at least 10% carbon fibers. At least a portion of the fibers used for manufacturing the fabric and/or the fleece are waste fibers and/or recycling fibers. The non-woven fabric and/or fleece is impregnated with a matrix material selected from the group thermoplastic, thermoset, elastomers and any chosen mixtures of two or more of the aforementioned materials.

  • Patent number: 8070904
Abstract: In a method of making a body part or chassis part of a motor vehicle, several pre-impregnated fiber materials (prepregs) are stacked on top o one another, with an outermost prepreg intended for attachment to a metallic base body being provided with an adhesive. The stacked prepregs are then shaped into a three-dimensional preform which is then compressed with the base body in a press tool for bonding the preform with the base body and allowing the adhesive to cure, thereby producing a joined structure which is allowed to cure.

  • Patent number: 7762063
Abstract: A housing for an exhaust gas purification component encloses an interior space in which at least one receptacle is formed by the housing at the outside. An exhaust system includes at least one first exhaust line section and the housing having the exhaust gas purification component. The first exhaust line section is in engagement with the receptacle, and the first exhaust line section and the receptacle are connected to one another in a materially integral manner. A motor vehicle having the exhaust system is also provided.

  • Publication number: 20100051183
Abstract: In a method of making a lightweight structure composed of a reinforced base element and a reinforcement element, the reinforcement element is fabricated, and the base element is heated by a heat source to a curing or pre-curing temperature. Subsequently the heated base element is joined together with the reinforcement element in a press tool.

  • Publication number: 20090206597
Abstract: A resistance pressure welding device includes a mounting to support a flange and at least one exhaust pipe to be welded to the flange and arranged in a flange opening of the flange, with the exhaust pipe having an end in the form of an outwardly directed collar. The collar is pressed against the flange by an inner electrode which is movable in an axial direction of the exhaust pipe to press. An outer electrode is placed in spaced-apart surrounding relationship to the inner electrode, and movable in the axial direction of the exhaust pipe against the flange from the same side as the inner electrode so that the welding current can be conducted across the contact surfaces of the collar and the flange.
