  • Patent number: 8910526
Abstract: A device and method for indicating if a fastening element upon fastening to a piece has reached a tensile yield limit load. The fastening element includes a threaded shaft having a magnetostrictive material. The device includes a mechanism for generating an alternating magnetic field that penetrates the shaft, a mechanism for measuring a physical quantity that depends on the momentary magnetic susceptibility of the shaft and a control unit adapted to detect a significant change of the physical quantity and determine and indicate if the shaft of the fastening element has reached the tensile yield limit load.

    Assignee: Rocan System AB
Inventors: Rolf Carlsson, Christer Johansson, Fredrik Ahrentorp, Christian Jonasson, Jakob Blomgren
  • Patent number: 8633685
Abstract: The invention concerns a system for measuring the alignment error of two axles provided with a first and a second coupling part by means of a biaxial orthogonal magnetic sensor system comprising a sensor and a magnet, wherein said sensor is designed to be placed on the first coupling part with its one direction of sensing oriented in one direction of magnetization of said magnet, which magnet is designed to be placed on the other coupling part and means for reading off an angle error and offset error independently of each other during the rotation of the axles on-line. The system moreover includes a reference sensor for determining said angle error and offset error orientation relative to a known direction.

  • Patent number: 8624584
Abstract: A device for detecting a magnetic field response or changes in a magnetic response of at least one magnetic particle in a carrier fluid, the detection comprising measuring the magnetic particles characteristic rotation period, and the measurement involving measurement of a Brownian relaxation in the carrier fluid under influence of an external pulsed magnetic field. The device includes means for generating the pulsed magnetic field, at least two substantially identical detection coils connected in gradiometer coupling to detection electronics for measuring the differential induced voltage which is dependent on the frequency dependent susceptibility or the magnetization change.

  • Publication number: 20090085557
Abstract: The present invention relates to method and device for detecting changes of a magnetic response of at least one magnetic particle in a carrier fluid. The method comprises: using a measuring procedure comprising measuring the characteristic rotation time of said magnetic particle, said measuring procedure further involving measuring Brownian relaxation in said carrier fluid under influence of an external pulsed excitation magnetic field, and based on said influence of said external pulsed excitation magnetic field measuring a hydrodynamic volume of a particle or a change in a hydrodynamic volume of the particle change upon modification of an effective volume of the particle or its interaction with said carrier fluid by detecting change of magnetization of the particle with time by monitoring change of an output signal in detection coil.
