  • Patent number: 8069628
Abstract: The invention relates to ring furnaces of which at least one of the inner partitions is formed by a plurality of bricks made of refractory material including at least a first brick and a second brick placed above or below a third brick and separated from one another by a space of width J, in which the first brick has at least one recess on its assembly face opposite the third brick, the third brick has at least one projection on its assembly face facing the first brick, wherein the projection is inserted into the recess, the dimension E of said recess in the longitudinal direction of the partition is greater than the dimension B of said first projection in the same direction, and said recess is positioned at a determined distance Se from the end face adjacent to said space.

  • Patent number: 5013503
Abstract: A process for continuous production of a carbonaceous paste in which at least one carbonaceous aggregate and a cokable binder are introduced continuously into a kneader having an upstream end, a downstream end, and a rotating shaft associated with kneading elements. During the kneading operation, the paste, is passed from the upstream end to the downstream end of the kneader and is heated in the upstream end of the kneader. Water is injected into the paste in the downstream end of the kneader, causing a reduction in temperature of the paste and vaporization of the water, which is subsequently discharged from an orifice in the kneader. The paste reduced in temperature to a shaping temperature is continuously discharged from the downstream end of the kneader.

  • Patent number: 4756814
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the individual marking of precooked anodes used in the production of aluminum by electrolysis in the Hall-Heroult process, and to the anodes produced thereby. These anodes are produced by hot compaction of a carbonaceous paste, and according to the invention, during or immediately after such compaction, a plurality of impressions is formed in the upper part of each anode. The impressions are depressions and/or relief portions, constitute a digital coding for the identification number of each anode, and remain legible until withdrawal of the components of the butt of the worn anode from the electrolysis tank. The marking can be carried out using a binary or ternary code, where the reference plane of the zone of the anode which carries the marking corresponds to a first digit, with other digits corresponding to depressions of a particular depth, depressions of a greater depth, or relief portions.
