  • Patent number: 7550533
Abstract: A composition results from the blending of a maleic anhydride grafted metallocene linear low-density polyethylene (mLLDPE) or a maleic anhydride grafted metallocene very low-density polyethylene (mVLDPE) with an alkene or olefin polymer composition. The resultant maleic anhydride grafted polymeric composition adheres well to metal films such as aluminum film. The composition also has rheology properties making the composition efficient to use in co-extrusion processes. Also provided is a method for preparing maleic anhydride grafted propylene polymer compositions.

  • Publication number: 20080286586
Abstract: There is provided a metallizable alkene or olefin polymer composition. The composition results from the blending of a modifier with an alkene or olefin polymer composition. The modifier is selected from the group consisting of: a maleic anhydride grafted ethylene copolymer, an ethylene copolymer containing acid monomers and/or ester monomers, an acid-grafted propylene copolymer, and a maleic anhydride grafted blend of a propylene copolymer with an ethylene copolymer. The resultant polymeric composition adheres surprisingly well to metal films and particularly well to aluminum film. The resultant composition also has unexpectedly favourable rheology properties making the composition efficient to use in co-extrusion processes. Also provided is a method of preparing the polymer compositions.

  • Publication number: 20040249001
Abstract: A process is disclosed for the solution recovery of nylons from various post-industrial and post-consumer products, and in which the relative viscosity of the resulting polymer is effectively managed. The process includes contacting the waste products with hexamethylene diamine (alone or in monocarbamate form) and in a suitable solvent in a reactor. This is followed by dissolution and depolymerization of the polyamide material; separation of insoluble materials therefrom from the solution; recovery of the depolymerized polyamide from the separated solution; and repolymerization of the depolymerized polyamide. Articles formed using this process are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20030083438
Abstract: An adhesive composition is described having an amine-modified, low acid ethylene-methacrylic acid copolymer with a melt flow index (MI) of 1.5 or less. Preferably, the acid copolymer has an acid content between 2 and 5 wt % and an amine content between 0.05 and 0.5 wt %. The adhesive is useful for bonding with an aliphatic polyketone copolymer such as an ethylene-carbon monoxide copolymer.

  • Patent number: 6367768
Abstract: A fuel valve for a fuel flow injection circuit, operating on electrical energy rather than hydraulic energy. The fuel valve has a valve body, a first fuel inlet opening, and a distribution assembly having a plug rotating in a bushing, the plug and bushing each having an opening slit. The valve body includes a fuel outlet opening section made by an overlapping area between the opening in the bushing and the opening in the plug. A plug position unit is provided to control a position of the plug in rotation, and the plug position unit is disposed in the valve body. The valve body further contains an electric motor that drives a rotation of a reduction gear assembly, the reduction gear assembly comprising an input shaft and an output pinion. The plug comprises a toothed sector engaging on the splines of the reduction gear assembly output pinion such that rotating the electric motor causes a rotation of the plug.

  • Patent number: 6140459
Abstract: This invention relates to high temperature, semi-crystalline, semi-aromatic nylon copolymers with improved shrinkage and blistering resistance, made from terephthalic acid (TA), hexamethylene diamine (HMD) and another aliphatic dicarboxylic acid as monomers. These polymers display superior % TD (Transverse Direction) annealing shrinkage, superior resistance to blistering when formulated with flame retardant additives and reinforcement under infrared (IR) reflow soldering conditions for electronic conectors, as well as a very good balance of mechanical performance as high temperature nylons.

  • Patent number: 5656717
Abstract: A process for the copolymerization of (1) a carboxylic acid comprising terephthalic acid and mixtures thereof with isophthalic acid with (2) a mixture of hexamethylene diamine and 2-methyl pentamethylene diamine. The pressure in the polymerization process is maintained at at least about 2.15 MPa for a period of at least about 40 minutes so that the resultant copolyamide, when annealed, has less than 1% by weight based on the total weight of the copolyamide of fractions having melting points greater than 320.degree. C. Use of lower pressures and times tends to result in formation of a high melting fraction.
