Publication number: 20230402766Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a radio unit (RU) may transmit, to a controller of the RU, a message including an ordered list of coordinates corresponding to a plurality of antenna elements in an antenna array of the RU. The RU may receive, from the controller, an indication of one or more low-level endpoints associated with one or more activated antenna elements of the plurality of antenna elements. Numerous other aspects are described.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 24, 2023Publication date: December 14, 2023Inventors: Michael Francis GARYANTES, Abhishek Saurabh SACHIDANAND SINHA, Christian Oliver THELEN, Senthilkumar SUNDARAM, Orod RAEESI, James KRYSL, Luca BLESSENT, Deepak AGARWAL

Publication number: 20230217422Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a radio unit (RU) may receive, from a distributed unit (DU), a control plane message associated with a section type that is dedicated for slot level configuration information. The control plane message may include a common section header that identifies a group of one or more endpoints, and one or more section type commands that include information associated with a slot level common configuration for the group of one or more endpoints. The RU may perform at least one of radio frequency configuration or time domain beamforming for the group of one or more endpoints based at least in part on the information included in the one or more section type commands. Numerous other aspects are described.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 20, 2022Publication date: July 6, 2023Inventors: Abhishek Saurabh SACHIDANAND SINHA, Senthilkumar SUNDARAM, Christian Oliver THELEN, Michael Francis GARYANTES, Deepak AGARWAL, Orod RAEESI, James KRYSL

Patent number: 11621752Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatuses for protecting against transmit power violations in a radio unit (RU) of a disaggregated base station. For example, when a distributed unit (DU) provides frequency domain samples to the RU, the DU may set a reference input level that causes the RU scale a gain lineup to avoid saturation or sensitivity issues in a signal processing chain while ramping up to a required transmit power. Accordingly, to avoid signal saturation or clipping at the RU, the RU may monitor energy estimation measurements and take remedial action when a transmit power violation occurs. For example, the RU may provide one or more system alarms to the DU or prevent transmission over an air interface in cases where the energy estimation measurements fail to satisfy one or more thresholds.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 2022Date of Patent: April 4, 2023Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Ori Auslender, Christian Oliver Thelen, Afshin Shiravi, Mark Wallace

Publication number: 20230057921Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a radio unit (RU) may receive, from a distributed unit (DU), a control plane message associated with a section type that is dedicated for information that applies to all resource blocks and spatial layers in a group of carriers or band sectors, wherein the control plane message includes information that applies to all resource blocks and spatial layers in an indicated group of carriers or band sectors. The RU may perform beamforming for one or more communications with a user equipment (UE) based at least in part on the information included in the control plane message. Numerous other aspects are described.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 20, 2021Publication date: February 23, 2023Inventors: Senthilkumar SUNDARAM, Christian Oliver THELEN, Kaushal PARIKH, Michael Francis GARYANTES, Abhishek Saurabh SACHIDANAND SINHA, Deepak AGARWAL

Publication number: 20220095160Abstract: Aspects relate to provision of a control message, such as an extension data section, that includes an indication of the repeat of highest priority data sections. The control message may be generated in a distributed unit (DU) and conveyed to a radio unit (RU) via a fronthaul link The control message may include either a flag or bits in a field of an extension data section allowing a RU to determine repeat of the highest priority data section based on reception of the flag or processing of the bit value in the field. Additionally, the indication of repetition of the highest priority section may be based on a section identifier transmitted by a DU, wherein an RU receiving the section identifier may determine repeat of the highest priority data section by tracking the received section identifier.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 21, 2021Publication date: March 24, 2022Inventors: Christian Oliver THELEN, Senthilkumar SUNDARAM, Rohan SALVI, James KRYSL, Kenneth David EASTON

Patent number: 9763094Abstract: Methods and devices for providing access to a wireless network through a network access point secured with a network password may include receiving a request to provide access to the wireless network for a device on the network access point. A virtual access point may be established to provide access to the wireless network for the device in response to receiving the request to provide access for the device on the network access point. A virtual access point password may be established for the device and associated with a unique identifier of the device. The virtual access point password may be different from the network password. The device may be provided with access to the network when an entered password matches the virtual access point password and the device identifier matches the unique identifier of the device associated with the virtual access point password.Type: GrantFiled: January 31, 2014Date of Patent: September 12, 2017Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Christian Oliver Thelen, Ted Ray Gooding, Robert Sean Daley

Patent number: 8768263Abstract: In an aspect, a method assists with blind decoding of uplink control signals on a Physical Uplink Shared Channel (PUSCH) and Physical Uplink Control Channel (PUCCH). The method assists in determining the uplink control path in the event a user equipment (UE) misses an uplink grant and blind decoding occurs. It is determined whether an uplink acknowledgement, rank indicator, and/or channel quality indicator are found on a PUSCH. If not, it is determined whether a scheduling request is expected and whether special handling for the scheduling request is indicated. Depending on those determinations, and whether any decoding attempts for uplink signals are successful, either the PUSCH or PUCCH is selected as the uplink control path.Type: GrantFiled: November 29, 2011Date of Patent: July 1, 2014Assignee: Qualcomm IncorporatedInventors: Durga Prasad Malladi, Zhifei Fan, Hao Xu, Christian Oliver Thelen, Zhengwei Liu
