  • Patent number: 4868681
Abstract: From a television signal, a data packet transmitted within each line in time multiplex with the picture information is separated by means of a time gate, while in addition to each data packet. a version delayed in time is formed, all the data packets are subjected to a multilevel coding and the information associated with a line and present in multiple are recorded relatively offset in time on different oblique tracks of a record carrier.

  • Patent number: 4812925
Abstract: A method for drop-out compensation during the reproduction of magnetically recorded signals, which signals are reproduced from several tracks of a record carrier and are combined into a monochannel signal. In this method, a drop-out identification signal is produced in each channel. Further, at least one bit combination of the digital signal exhibiting time errors is reserved for the transmission of the drop-out identification signal. The drop-out identification signal is subjected, together with the digital signal, to a time error correction. The drop-out identification signal, corrected with respect to time errors, is used for controlling a drop-out memory in a manner such that in the case of a drop-out, the output signal of the drop-out memory is inserted instead of the disturbed signal part into the monochannel signal corrected with respect to time errors, while with a non-disturbed signal, the drop-out memory is reloaded.

  • Patent number: 3943562
Abstract: Apparatus is provided for automatic video track searching during the reproduction of still pictures from oblique magnetic video track recordings on a magnetic tape. The apparatus is adapted for use in a system including a rotating magnetic-head drum capable of generating position pulses. The apparatus provides for arbitrarily switching the tape-transport motor down to a slow speed and for a braking circuit to stop the tape-transport motor. A detecting circuit is provided to form a voltage envelope curve from signals generated by the video head or video heads, and a phase shifter for the position pulses compensates for phase errors in the machinery and circuitry. The apparatus also provides for the aforesaid switching upon a temporal coincidence between minima of a aforesaid envelope curve and the phase compensated position pulses. A sample and hold circuit scans the aforesaid envelope curve at times controlled by the phase compensated position pulses.

  • Patent number: 3939490
Abstract: An apparatus is provided for recording on videotape to insure the absence phase error between different sequences in the assembling mode. The apparatus includes a reference pulse source and circuitry to apply reference pulses from the source to a first recording of the tape through a fixed transducer head for recording and playback. The reference pulses also control the speed of the motor driving the tape through a servo mechanism. A tachometer-generator is operatively connected to the motor to produce a train of pulses related to the motor speed at a frequency comprising a fixed integer multiple of the frequency of the reference pulses. The output of the tachometer is fed to a counter which divides the tachometer pulses by the fixed integer so that the output of the counter represents a train of pulses, the frequency of which is equal to that of the reference pulses.
