  • Publication number: 20220397665
Abstract: A method for classifying objects in the environment of a vehicle with the aid of ultrasonic sensors. In the method, ultrasonic signals are emitted, ultrasonic echoes are received from objects in the environment, and the position of a reflection point relative to the ultrasonic sensors is determined using lateration, reflection points being continuously determined and the reflection points being allocated to objects in the environment. Dispersion parameters relating to the position of the reflection points allocated to an object are determined and used as a classification criterion with regard to the type of object. A driver assistance system and a vehicle including such a driver assistance system, are also described.

  • Publication number: 20220342061
Abstract: A method is provided for classifying an object, in particular in the surroundings of a motor vehicle, using an ultrasonic sensor system, the ultrasonic sensor system including a plurality of spatially distributed ultrasonic sensors. A plurality of measurements are carried out continuously during a measurement, an ultrasonic signal being emitted by one of the ultrasonic sensors, a signal being received by at least one of the ultrasonic sensors which includes a plurality of reflected echo signals, so-called multiple echoes, and the received echo signals being associated with an object. A plurality of features may be determined from the received echo signals. The object is classified as a function of a combination of at least two of these features, in particular as a pedestrian.

  • Patent number: 9910149
Abstract: A method for mapping surroundings of a vehicle, objects in the surroundings of the vehicle being detected with the aid of sensors and particular detected objects being described by two coordinate points and also by a position fuzziness assigned to the particular coordinate point, the coordinate points and the position fuzziness values being stored in an interface in the form of data which may be accessed by driver assistance systems of the vehicle. A method is also described for ascertaining the collision probability of a vehicle with an object, in which the surroundings of the vehicle are initially mapped using the method for mapping the surroundings of a vehicle, a travel path to be traveled by the vehicle is ascertained in a subsequent step, and the degree of overlap between the object and the travel path and also the collision probability are finally determined, taking the position fuzziness into account.

  • Patent number: 9045160
Abstract: In a method for assisting a driver of a motor vehicle during a parking process, the surroundings of the vehicle are recorded during travel, and with the aid of the surroundings pattern recorded, it is ascertained whether there is a parking space and whether the parking space is a parallel parking space or a perpendicular parking space. Before the beginning of the parking process, the driver of the vehicle may indicate whether the parking space is a parallel parking space or a perpendicular parking space, or a parking space is recognized as a perpendicular parking space if, on at least one side of the parking space, an object is detected, and no additional non-moving object is detected in the area of the possible parking space.

  • Patent number: 8823550
Abstract: In a method for warning a driver of a vehicle about a collision with an object in the course a parking operation, the distance of the vehicle to at least one object in the environment of the vehicle is detected, and if a specified minimum distance is undershot, the driver is warned to stop the vehicle or the vehicle is stopped automatically. The specified minimum distance is varied as a function of the type of parking space and the executed parking maneuver.

  • Patent number: 8797186
Abstract: A parking assistance system is described for assisting in a parking operation of a vehicle when a plurality of parking spaces is present. A method in a parking assistance system includes performing the following: detecting a plurality of parking spaces; selecting one of the detected parking spaces based on a degree of comfort; and assisting in the parking operation into the selected parking space. The degree of comfort includes at least one predefined condition, on the basis of which the detected parking spaces are classifiable according to the presumed driver acceptance.

  • Patent number: 8710975
Abstract: In an automated method for providing an indication, with the aid of a turn signal indicator, that a vehicle is leaving a parking space, a vehicle control system detects initially whether an executed driving maneuver is a maneuver related to leaving a parking space, in which case the maneuvering out of a parking space is indicated by activating the turn signal indicator, and the turn signal indicator is kept activated until the process of maneuvering out of the parking space has been concluded.
