Publication number: 20150077122Abstract: The invention relates to a safety device (16) capable of being connected between a circuit breaker device (14) and an electric installation powered by an electric grid providing three-phase current having a first associated frequency, using a line for conveying electric current including three phase conductors (PH1, PH2, PH3), a neutral conductor (N) and a protection conductor (PE). This device makes it possible to verify at least one electric safety condition following a cut off of electric power of the electric installation by the circuit breaker device (14). This device comprises means (32) for verifying the presence of a residual voltage above a predetermined safety threshold on at least one of the conductors and means (34, 36) for verifying isolation, capable of verifying the isolation between two conductors of at least one pair of conductors, called the tested pair of conductors, among said phase conductors.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 15, 2014Publication date: March 19, 2015Applicant: Schneider Electric Industries SASInventors: Alexandre Laporte, Francois Vincent, Christian Pellegrin

Patent number: 6777635Abstract: A limiting circuit breaker comprises two separable contacts 68, 70 and a mechanism 12 with energy storage 36 operated by an opening catch 30. The mechanism 12 drives a movable cage 58 between a closed position and an open position to perform opening of the contacts. One of the contacts is movable with respect to the cage 58 in the closed position and can thus take a separated position. A Thomson effect electromechanical actuator 100 is provided to drive the movable contact 68 to the separated position. A latch 80 enables the movable contact to be held in the separated position. In the event of a fault requiring a very high-speed response, separation of the contacts is obtained by means of the Thomson effect actuator and is then confirmed by opening of the mechanism. In other cases, only the mechanism operates to perform opening.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 2003Date of Patent: August 17, 2004Assignee: Schneider Electric Industries SASInventors: Pierre Baginski, Grégoire Brun, Jean-Paul Ferrand, Jacques Joubert, Christian Pellegrin, Richard Vacher

Patent number: 5287062Abstract: A reference AC signal having a frequency of about 4-10 Hz is injected into a line of a DC electrical network for performing insulation measuring in a processing unit. The AC signal is measured in a mixed bridge having a first resistive dividing bridge connected in parallel with a second capacitive dividing bridge between the line and the ground. The intermediate output points of the first and second bridges are joined together and connected in an input of the processing unit. The impedance and the dividing ratio of the two bridges cause the DC voltage measured at said input to be low in relation to the value of the AC voltage measured at the output of said mixed bridge.Type: GrantFiled: December 17, 1991Date of Patent: February 15, 1994Assignee: Merlin GerinInventors: Christian Pellegrin, Luc Weynachter, Patrice Allin

Patent number: 5272440Abstract: An isolation monitor is electrically connected between the earth and an isolated neutral of a transformer which supplies AC electrical power to the main distribution network. In order to measure and to locate an isolation fault occurring somewhere on the feeders, each feeder is equipped with a toroid current measuring transformer, and comprises further a secondary winding connected to a processing locator performing synchronous demodulation. Two first and second transmission lines are provided between the isolation monitor and the locator. The first synchronous line transmits synchronization pluses from the monitor to the locator, and the second line transmits to the locator the demodulated values of the input voltage furnished by the monitor.Type: GrantFiled: May 14, 1992Date of Patent: December 21, 1993Assignee: Merlin GerinInventors: Luc Weynachter, Christian Pellegrin, Patrice Alain

Patent number: 4896115Abstract: An insulation monitoring device comprises an input circuit of a reference AC signal, and an electronic detection circuit for discriminating the components of a measurement signal proportional to the ground fault impedance Z formed by a leakage resistor Rf in parallel with a leakage capacitor C. A synchronous detector has a pair of static inverters processing the first component, which is a function of the current IR flowing through the leakage resistor Rf, and of the second component which is a function of the current IC flowing through the capacitor C. A converter cooperates with the generator to deliver two quadrature signals C1 and C2 to respectively control the inverters. A display means accurately displays the value of the leakage resistance Rf.Type: GrantFiled: June 1, 1988Date of Patent: January 23, 1990Assignee: Merlin GerinInventors: Philippe LeMaitre, Philippe Schuster, Christian Pellegrin
