  • Publication number: 20230086860
Abstract: A connector comprises a first housing and a second housing each receiving a plurality of electrical terminals. The second housing is connected to the first housing, and is movable relative thereto in an insertion direction of the connector with respect to a mating connector. A latch selectively fixes the first housing in a staggered position relative to the second housing in the insertion direction.

  • Patent number: 11070013
Abstract: A connector assembly having an outer ground contact and a one piece over-molded housing and a method of assembly. The outer ground contact has an outer contact socket portion and an outer contact termination portion. The outer contact termination portion has openings which extend through a wall of the outer contact termination portion. The one piece over-molded housing has a nose cone portion, an inner dielectric portion and transition portions which extend between the nose cone portion and the inner dielectric portion. The nose cone portion is positioned outside of the outer contact termination portion. The inner dielectric portion positioned inside of the outer contact termination portion. The transition portions extend from the nose cone portion, through the openings, to the inner dielectric portion. The positioning of the transition portions in the openings securely mounts the outer grounding contact to the housing.

  • Patent number: 10153586
Abstract: A position assurance device. The position assurance device has a base portion with a top surface, a bottom surface, a base front end and a base back end. At least one resiliently deformable beam extends from the base portion in a direction away from the base back end. A metal member is provided in the at least one resiliently deformable beam. The metal member is configured to add strength and stability to the connector position assurance device.

  • Patent number: 10038278
Abstract: An electrical connector includes a housing having an upper wall and a first protrusion and a CPA element slidably coupled to the housing along the upper wall between an extended position and an inserted position. The CPA element includes a base and a first beam extending from the base having a first arm and a first finger including an abutment wall configured to abut against the first protrusion and a tip configured to be engaged by a mating connector when received in the housing. The tip is deflected from a blocked position to a released position with the distal end engaging the protrusion in the blocked position and the tip being deflected outside of the protrusion to the released position where the tip is able to clear past the protrusion to allow the CPA element to be moved from the extended position to the inserted position. The CPA may be configured so that in the extended position it is to block release of a pivotal latch used to retain the connector to a mating connector.

  • Patent number: 9608369
Abstract: A connector system includes an electrical connector that has a housing, a rounded member, and a connector position assurance (CPA) lever. The housing defines a cavity that receives a mating connector and a socket that holds the rounded member therein. The rounded member is moved by the mating connector from a seated position to a lifted position, and attains the lifted position when the mating connector is fully loaded in the cavity. The CPA lever is slidable relative to the housing between an extended position and a retracted position. When the rounded member is in the seated position, a protrusion on the housing blocks movement of the CPA lever from the extended position to the retracted position. When the rounded member is in the lifted position, the rounded member deflects the deflectable tab to clear the protrusion, allowing the CPA lever to be moved to the retracted position.
