  • Patent number: 12338733
Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods and systems for capturing a large collection of downhole fluid samples and, more particularly, disclosed are methods and systems for using at least two hydraulic pressure lines to alternatingly actuate hydraulic valves disposed in an interlinked series to obtain any large collection of hydraulically actuated components to be energized in sequence. A large collection of downhole fluid samples may be defined as any number of downhole fluid samples wherein the number of downhole fluid samples is larger than the number of actuators.

  • Patent number: 12241332
Abstract: A well interval isolation device is disclosed. The wellbore isolation device may have a plurality of expandable elements that cooperate upon expansion downhole in a wellbore to create multiple isolated well intervals. At least two pairs of expandable elements that are spaced apart on a tool string are usable to create both a primary isolated well interval and at least one isolated guard interval on each of an uphole side and a downhole side of the primary isolated well interval. The isolated guard intervals function to further isolate the primary isolated well interval from surrounding well fluid, thereby allowing a difference between the pressure within the primary isolated well interval and the hydrostatic pressure of the well fluid (i.e., the differential pressure) to safely exceed the maximum differential pressure at which any of the individual expandable elements can operate while simultaneously maintaining isolation of the well intervals.

  • Publication number: 20250020059
Abstract: A downhole tool to be positioned in a wellbore in a subsurface formation. The downhole tool comprises a first rod configured with a first cavity to obtain samples of formation fluid. The downhole tool comprises a translating member configured to shift the first rod from an open position to a closed position to obtain, via the first cavity, a first fluid sample of the formation fluid from a first location in the wellbore.

  • Publication number: 20190234211
Abstract: A formation fluid sampling module including a body having an interior, a first probe including a first end arranged in the interior and a second end exposed at the outer surface, and a second probe including a first end section arranged in the interior and a second end exposed at the outer surface. The second end extends radially outwardly of and about the second end of the first probe. A pump is arranged in the interior. The pump includes a first pumping chamber including a first inlet fluidically connected to the first end, a second pumping chamber including a second inlet fluidically connected to the first end section and a piston operatively associated with each of the first pumping chamber and the second pumping chamber.
