    Abstract: A device and method for determining the storage capacity of an electrical energy store, as for example a rechargeable battery, based on the phase of the complex impedance of the electrical energy store. The impedance of the electrical energy store is determined in that the energy store is loaded with a specified periodic load and the system response setting in as a result is ascertained. On the basis of the correlation between the phase of the complex impedance of the electrical energy store and the storage capacity of the electrical energy store, it is thereupon possible reliably and in a simple manner to ascertain the storage capacity of the electrical energy store.
