  • Patent number: 5105541
Abstract: The invention is directed to an electric shaving and hair trimming apparatus, with a first cutter arrangement or shaver assembly comprised of upper cutter and lower cutter for cutting short hair, and with a second cutter arrangement or trimmer head comprised of trimmer blade and trimmer plate for shortening long hair, with the use of the trimmer head involving a spacer comb seatable on the first and second cutter arrangement. When the apparatus is turned on, the trimmer head is invariably moved by an ON-OFF slide control means from its lowermost position (OFF position), in which its distance to the tip of the spacer comb is at a maximum, to its uppermost position in which its distance to the tip of the spacer comb is at a minimum and in which the shortest cutting length is set. In this manner, it is ensured that when starting operation of the trimmer head the beard hair is initially cut at the longest cutting length setting.

  • Patent number: 4170060
Abstract: A shear-head for a dryshaver has a cupped frame in the interior space of which the cutter blade or blades of the dryshaver become located when the shear-head is connected to the dryshaver housing. An opening of the frame is spanned by an arcuately bowed, flexible apertured shear foil through which beard stubble extends into contact with the cutter blade or blades. Inner surfaces of the frame are provided with recesses in which mounting plates are lodged. These mounting plates have projections that are engageable with edge portions of the shear foil to hold the latter detachably on the frame.

  • Patent number: 4019252
Abstract: A shear head is mounted in a housing of the shaver and includes two cutters one of which is reciprocable relative to the other. An electric motor has a rotatable output shaft and motion-transmitting linkage connects the output shaft with the reciprocable cutter. The linkage includes a crank which is movable by the output shaft and a swing arm which is connected with the reciprocable cutter, and a joint which connects the crank and the swing arm with one another. The joint includes a spherical surface provided on the crank or the swing arm, and a pair of socket members provided on the swing arm or crank and contacting portions of the spherical surface along annular lines, there being sufficient play in the joint to permit relative tumbling movements of the element thereof about the center of the spherical surface.
