  • Patent number: 7206180
Abstract: A method for regulating the current through an electromagnetic actuator. The actuator, a first switch and a current-measuring circuit form a series circuit. A free-wheeling diode is parallel-connected to the actuator. The first switch is closed and opened by a control and a pulse generator using a PWM signal (PWM=pulse width modulation) in such a way that the current flowing through the actuator and measured by the current-measuring circuit is regulated to a setpoint value (SW). The time duration of one on and off switching cycle of the PWM signal is altered, and a so-called dither function in the form of a low-frequency oscillation is superimposed on the PWM signal.

  • Patent number: 6708096
Abstract: A method and device are described for controlling an element of a drive train, which is influenceable by an operating device, in a vehicle having a control unit and a storage device, the element and/or the operating device being implementable in different variants. In this case, at least one identifier is stored in the storage device, the identifier representing the respective variant of the element and/or of the operating element which is contained in the vehicle. The element is controlled by the control unit as a function of the respective identifier in accordance with the respective variant. At the same time, different states of the respective variant of the element are selected, in particular through the operating means, an identifier being assigned for each possible state.

  • Patent number: 5947863
Abstract: The invention is directed to a method for controlling the input torque of a transmission mounted downstream of an internal combustion engine during a gear ratio changing operation of the transmission. The input torque is increased or decreased by pregiven measures beyond the value thereof present at the start of the shifting operation in dependence upon mode of shifting present. The method includes performing at least one of the following steps to realize at least one of the measures: actuating a device for changing the geometric characteristics of the exhaust-gas system of the engine; actuating the electromagnetic brake controlling the input torque of the transmission; switching in or switching out ancillary equipment driven by the engine; actuating the intake or exhaust valves of the engine to generate a negative combustion torque; and, if the engine is an engine having externally supplied ignition, advancing the ignition time point of the engine.

  • Patent number: 5896963
Abstract: The invention is directed to a system for controlling a servo clutch which is mounted between the motor of a vehicle and a transmission having at least one reverse gear which can be set. To set the reverse gear, at least two rotatable transmission parts are brought into meshing engagement with each other. To set the reverse gear, the servo clutch is driven in such a manner that a rotational movement is imparted to at least one of the transmission parts. With this system, the reverse gear can be set reliably and comfortably especially in automated manual-shift transmissions.
