Abstract: A watercraft stabilizing system includes a float selectively movable by a user to a deployed position extending away from a hull of the watercraft. The hull and float may be configured so that in a retracted position the float does not detrimentally affect the handling and/or performance of the craft. In various embodiments, the float, in a retracted position, may be positioned in-line with the hull, or so that it otherwise follows the contours of the hull, specifically with respect to the portions of the float and hull that are below the waterline. The stabilizing system may be particularly suitable for use with kayaks and canoes.
