  • Patent number: 9133893
Abstract: A clutch arrangement (1) for transmitting a drive torque from a drive shaft (2) to a secondary assembly, in particular to a fan wheel (11) of a motor vehicle, comprising a drive shaft (2), an output (10) and a friction disc clutch (12) which can be shifted by means of an electromagnetic arrangement (13). The clutch arrangement (1) comprises, in addition to the friction disc clutch (12) for transmitting torque from the drive shaft (2) to the output (10), a fluid friction clutch (4) whose hydraulic control valve (5) can be actuated by means of the electromagnetic arrangement (13) of the friction disc clutch (12) in order to set the slip.

  • Publication number: 20150129388
Abstract: A coupling assembly for transferring a drive torque from a drive shaft (2) to a secondary unit, of a motor vehicle, including a drive shaft (2), an output (9) with at least one friction surface (20, 30), an armature (7) that is adjustable relative to the output (9) by energising an energisable winding (4) and that has friction coupling means with a friction surface (19, 25), as well as at least one liquid friction coupling means with a shear gap (21, 29, 52) filled with a fluid (16), wherein the friction coupling means and the liquid friction coupling means are part of a common coupling (14) designed as a combined friction disc and liquid friction coupling in which the adjustable armature (7) delimits the shear gap (21, 29, 52).

  • Patent number: 7159702
Abstract: An actuator which, by a movement of a component which is generated by means of an electric current, can effect control of another component in a mechanical environment having rotating parts which are housed in a very small space. A rotating element, for example a clutch shaft (1; 21), is hollow, and an electromagnetic coil arrangement (7; 24) is housed in this cavity in such a way that the excitation of the coil is converted into a mechanical displacement of a component arranged outside the clutch shaft, for example of a sleeve sliding axially on the clutch shaft. For this purpose, parts of the clutch shaft are made ferromagnetic and are integrated in the magnetic loop of the coil (7; 24). The actuator according to the invention can be used, for example, in a viscous clutch for controlling the throughput of shear medium.

  • Patent number: 7040545
Abstract: A viscous fluid-type heat generating apparatus comprises a conveying rotor in communication with at least one channel for conveying a tempering fluid through it. The conveying rotor is mounted on a driven shaft. A shearing arrangement provides shearing forces onto viscous liquid situated in a chamber. This chamber is immediately formed within a hollow space of the conveyor rotor.

  • Patent number: 6732845
Abstract: A fluid friction clutch, in particular for the fan of the radiator of an internal combustion engine, is described. A valve element (22) controlling the clutch is operated via a solenoid control by means of a piston rod (24) which is guided coaxially in the drive shaft (12) of the clutch. The piston rod (24) includes an anchor (28), which is guided in the drive shaft (12). An actuator coil (34) is received in the magnet body (32), which is seated rotatably upon the drive shaft (12). The drive shaft (12) guiding the anchor (28) is provided with a non-magnetic separation gap (38).
