Publication number: 20250080221Abstract: An Optical Wireless Communication, OWC, front end (300) comprises a reflective splitter (310). The reflective splitter (310) has a controller port (311) for optical coupling to a controller (200) which generates OWC signals, and the reflective splitter (310) has a plurality of user ports (312) for optical coupling to OWC endpoint devices (400). The reflective splitter (310) is constructed and arranged such that: light received at the controller port (311) is passed to one or more of the user ports (312) for transmission to one or more OWC endpoint devices (400) in optical wireless communication with that user port (312); and light received at any of the user ports (312a) is passed to at least one other of the user ports (312b, 312c) for transmission to one or more OWC endpoint devices (400) in optical wireless communication with that user port (312b, 312c).Type: ApplicationFiled: December 22, 2022Publication date: March 6, 2025Inventors: MATTHIAS WENDT, ANDREAS FELIX ALFRED BLUSCHKE, CHRISTIAN JORDAN

Publication number: 20240174274Abstract: A method for obstacle detection for a rail vehicle includes determining a monitoring region in front of the vehicle based on position and course of a track which the vehicle travels and position and dimensions of a monitoring profile of the vehicle. During the determination, sensor data for determining position and orientation of the vehicle are captured and position and course of the track which the vehicle travels are determined based on alignment of the determined position and orientation of the vehicle with digital map data. Objects in the vehicle environment are captured by sensors of the vehicle. Which objects are potential collision obstacles is determined by checking whether and to what extent they overlap with the monitoring region. A reaction to the objects categorized as potential obstacles is determined based on geometric and kinetic attributes of the objects. An obstacle detection device and a vehicle are also provided.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 7, 2022Publication date: May 30, 2024Inventors: Andrew Palmer, Egzone Ademi, Christian Wendt, Wolfgang Waizenegger, Andreas Wiratanaya, Christoph Zimmermann, Jost Schnee, Jonathan Pilborough

Patent number: 11687736Abstract: Systems and methods may be used to provide transcription and translation services. A method may include initializing a plurality of user devices with respective language output selections in a translation group by receiving a shared identifier from the plurality of user devices and transcribing the audio stream to transcribed text. The method may include translating the transcribed text to one or more of the respective language output selections when an original language of the transcribed text differs from the one or more of the respective language output selections. The method may include sending, a user device in the translation group, the transcribed text including translated text in a language corresponding to the respective language output selection for the user device. In an example, the method may include customizing the transcription or the translation, such as to a particular topic, location, user, or the like.Type: GrantFiled: October 23, 2020Date of Patent: June 27, 2023Assignee: MICROSOFT TECHNOLOGY LICENSING, LLCInventors: William D. Patent number: 6490587Abstract: Method and apparatus are utilized in a system for distributing digital contents from a central server to a plurality of endpoint servers for further distribution to end users for automatically managing the digital assets of the endpoint servers. Each endpoint server is connected to a plurality of users over a communications network and operable to deliver digital information content to users on demand. Using a master content stored at the central server, the digital content of each endpoint is periodically and automatically refreshed based on an aggregate profile that reflects the preferences of the end-user population served by the endpoint server. The aggregate profile is generated from information received from the end users, including information submitted by the users or automatically generated feedback information relating to the users'on-line activities.Type: GrantFiled: December 8, 2000Date of Patent: December 3, 2002Inventors: Allen Dwight Easty, Byron David Wagner, Thomas Christian Wendt, Joel McConaughy, Aaron Richard Baskin, Jonathan Trumbull Taplin, Jeremiah Chechik, Kevin Paul Headings
