  • Patent number: 7568468
Abstract: A method for operating an internal combustion engine having a fuel pump with a drive shaft is provided, the fuel pump conveying fuel into at least one fuel-collection line, the fuel being subsequently conveyed to at least one combustion chamber via at least one fuel-injection device. In the method, a quantity of the fuel conveyed by the fuel pump into the fuel-collection line is set by means of a valve device. The valve device is configured to selectively connect a discharge side of the fuel pump to a low-pressure region of the fuel pump (during deactivation phase), and selectively disconnect the discharge side from the low-pressure region (during supply phase). In supplying the quantity of fuel, a supply rate, defined as the number of supply phases of the fuel pump per rotation of the drive shaft, is determined as a function of at least one operating parameter of the internal combustion engine.

  • Publication number: 20090044783
Abstract: The invention relates to a fuel pump for a fuel system of an internal combustion engine, having a housing and a housing cap joined to the housing. In order to create a fuel pump which in its operation generates little airborne sound, structure-borne sound (vibration amplitudes) and pulsations in a low-pressure region of the fuel pump, it is proposed that the housing cap has at least one damping element, which is embodied as a sandwich construction having at least a first cover layer, a second cover layer, and a damping connection layer disposed between them. The damping connection layer has a markedly higher elasticity and/or higher material damping than the two cover layers, which may be constructed of sheet metal or the housing cap itself.

  • Publication number: 20080283026
Abstract: A fuel system for an internal combustion engine includes at least one first fuel pump and a pressure region into which the fuel pump pumps and which communicates with an elastic volume reservoir. The elastic volume reservoir has a characteristic pressure/volume curve, which is defined by at least two points. It is proposed that a first point is defined by a first volume at a first pressure that is somewhat greater than a vapor pressure of the fuel at ambient temperature, and that a second point is defined by a second volume and a second pressure in the pressure region that corresponds to a maximum pressure; the difference between the first and second volumes corresponds at least approximately and at least to a value by which the volume of the fuel in the pressure region decreases upon cooling down from a maximum temperature to ambient temperature.

  • Patent number: 7421266
Abstract: An access point to be installed in a wireless network is automatically discovered and associated with an authentication center adapted to provide remote authentication services for the wireless network. This may be accomplished by executing an address resolution protocol scan of nodes on the wireless network and identifying from the scan results the access point to be installed. Configuration information regarding the access point is then transmitted to the authentication center and the access point is configured to use the authentication center for 802.1x authentication services for the wireless network.

  • Publication number: 20070233860
Abstract: A system, method and computer program product are provided. In use, a first key is exchanged between a granting node and a requesting node via a peer-to-peer wireless network. Further, a human-perceptible hash is generated at the granting node and the requesting node, utilizing the first key. Such human-perceptible hashes are then compared via an out-of-band communication channel. To this end, a second key may then be transmitted to the requesting node for providing access to a centrally-based wireless network.

  • Publication number: 20060233375
Abstract: A system, method and computer program product are provided. In use, a peer-to-peer wireless network is advertised utilizing a granting node. Further, a requesting node is provided for connecting to the peer-to-peer wireless network. Thereafter, such requesting node is redirected to a portal. To this end, a software application is capable of being downloaded to the requesting node via the peer-to-peer wireless network utilizing the portal.

  • Publication number: 20050021979
Abstract: As part of a network node authentication process, a MAC address or other globally unique identifier of an access point through which the network node will access a computer network is transmitted in an EAP or other authentication message to an authentication server to uniquely identify the access point to the authentication server.
