  • Patent number: 5424353
Abstract: The invention relates to a thermosetting molding material, containing refractory fibers, characterized in that it can be injection molded and takes the form of a "flock" of 60 to 30% by weight of solid fillers which include refractory fibers, impregnated with 40 to 70% by weight of thermosetting resin. This molding material is obtained from a syrup of the catalysed thermosetting resin into which are introduced the solid fillers while mixing in such a way as to produce homogeneous impregnation of the filler with the catalyzed resin, then the mixture is kneaded until the filler is converted into a flock whereupon the flock/resin mixture is dried under reduced pressure. Application to the manufacture, in particular by conventional injection molding, of composite materials usable in the manufacture of motors for tactical missiles, in particular ablatable blast pipes.

  • Patent number: 5368906
Abstract: The thermic protection device is obtained by winding refractory wires with plush loops and radial and reinforcement armament picots, also with refractory fibers, preferably twisted. The plush loops and the picots have a predetermined orientation and/or pitch with respect to the direction of the ablative flow in the hollow structure.Application for the embodiment of the ferrule of a ram jet engine chamber.

  • Patent number: 5236529
Abstract: A thermal protection device for protecting walls of structures exposed to ablative flow at high temperatures in the presence of vibrations comprises, embedded in a thermally insulative matrix, a refractory armature formed by a fringed mat comprising a meshed part exposed to the ablative flow and fringes intended to be directed towards the wall of the structure to be protected. The device further comprises an open-weave refractory woven material parallel to the meshed part of the armature and through which the fringes pass.

  • Patent number: 4655866
Abstract: A thermal protection device is intended for protecting structures submitted to high temperature and high speed ablative flow in the presence of high frequency vibrations and of the type comprising an armature containing a binder layer. The armature is a fringed meshing comprising a meshed portion submitted to ablative flow and fringes thereon directed to the structure surface to be protected with a predetermined orientation relative to the direction of said flow. Such a device is obtained for example by winding on a mandrel a fringed strip previously impregnated with a polymerizable resin which is polymerized after forming. The device can protect reactor conduits conveying high temperature corrosive gases.
