  • Patent number: 8326783
Abstract: A method and system to minimize redundancy in testing a new software system by utilizing a knowledge base is provided. The knowledge base may be represented in a form of a decision tree including leaf nodes which store previously tested optimal configurations. When the knowledge base does not contain an optimal configuration for the new software, an optimal solution for the new software system may be determined by adding a further decision tree branch to the initial decision tree. A desirable tree branch may be selected from a table including a predetermined set of desirable tree branches for each category of software. As a result, the number of solutions to be tested on the input software may be limited and cost and effort to run redundant tests on a software system may be reduced.

  • Patent number: 7779354
Abstract: A method, computer program product, and a data processing system for recognizing and correcting dyslexia-related spelling errors is provided. A word is received for evaluation of a dyslexia-related misspelling. The received word is compared with a plurality of dyslexia variants, and a match between the received word and a dyslexia variant is identified. An error rate at which dyslexia-related misspelled words are received is compared with a threshold, and the read word is evaluated as one of a correctly spelled word and a dyslexia-related misspelling of a word.

  • Patent number: 6725060
Abstract: A system and method for reducing power consumed by an integrated electronic device. The device includes a personal data assistant (PDA) unit and a wireless telephone integrated in a common housing. A common display on the housing is used for displaying messages from both the PDA and the wireless telephone to a user. A controller, coupled to the wireless telephone, places the wireless telephone in a power-off state after expiration of a predetermined period of time following cessation of voice traffic activity on the wireless telephone. The controller switches the wireless telephone from the power-off state to a power-on state if, during operation in the power-off state, a user begins an attempt to place an outgoing call with the wireless telephone. The wireless telephone is unable to receive an incoming call when the wireless telephone is in the power-off state.

  • Publication number: 20040018852
Abstract: A system and method for allowing a wireless communication device for conveniently converting alphanumeric characters into numeric characters for dialing is disclosed. The device may further include a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) as part of the wireless communication device. The unit accepts input from memory that has been highlighted on the PDA display. Any alphanumeric characters saved in address book phone entries will be automatically converted to phone numeric equivalents when dialed. For example, a stored number of 1-800-2EUDORA is treated as 18002383672 when dialed. The unit accepts input from memory into a Alphanumeric to Numeric Converter where the letters an non integers are converted into numbers to be dialed. The converted number is then passed through an undefined character filter where undefined characters are eliminated. The output is then sent to a display where an optional confirmation step takes place before the wireless communication device dials the intended number.
