Patent number: 11912997Abstract: Described are RNAi agents, compositions that include RNAi agents, and methods for inhibition of a Superoxide Dismutase 1 (SOD1) gene. The SOD1 RNAi agents and RNAi agent conjugates disclosed herein inhibit the expression of an SOD1 gene. Pharmaceutical compositions that include one or more SOD1 RNAi agents, optionally with one or more additional therapeutics, are also described. Delivery of the described SOD1 RNAi agents to central nervous system (CNS) tissue, in vivo, provides for inhibition of SOD1 gene expression and a reduction in SOD1 activity, which can provide a therapeutic benefit to subjects, including human subjects, for the treatment of various diseases including amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS.).Type: GrantFiled: June 14, 2023Date of Patent: February 27, 2024Assignee: Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals, Inc.Inventors: Christine Esau, Ji Young Suk, Tao Pei, Anthony Nicholas, Xiaokai Li, Jeffrey Carlson

Patent number: 11221759Abstract: A foldable computing device provides user interface (“UI”) transitions and optimizations while operating in a productivity mode. When the foldable computing device is operating in productivity mode, it can present a UI below a hardware keyboard placed over a display region and occluding only a top portion of the display region or a software keyboard presented in the display region occluding only the top portion of the display region. If the hardware keyboard or the software keyboard occlude only the bottom of the display region, a UI can be shown above the hardware keyboard or the software keyboard. The foldable computing device can adjust the position of UI windows that are occluded when the hardware or software keyboard is placed on the display region. The foldable computing device can move the UI windows back to their original positions if the hardware or software keyboard no longer occlude the display region.Type: GrantFiled: February 20, 2020Date of Patent: January 11, 2022Assignee: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Christian Klein, Ryan Pendlay, Peter Hammerquist, Julia Christine Carlson, Christoffer Peter Hart Hansen, Lauren Edelmeier, Scott Schenone

Patent number: 8465967Abstract: A method of trapping a charged particle. The method includes providing a planar substrate having a conductive surface thereon, the conductive surface having at least one non-conductive region. The method also includes applying a solution to the conductive surface, the solution comprising at least one charged particle. The method further includes applying a voltage of a threshold level to the conductive surface. The method also includes, in response to the voltage, generating an electrostatic field in the solution adjacent to a boundary between the conductive surface and the non-conductive region. The method also includes setting the threshold level of voltage to result in a strength of the electrostatic field sufficient to prevent the particle from crossing the electrostatic field.Type: GrantFiled: January 21, 2011Date of Patent: June 18, 2013Assignee: UWM Research Foundation, Inc.Inventors: Jorg C. Woehl, Christine A. Carlson

Patent number: 8167627Abstract: A lighting assembly includes a lighting unit having a housing defining an internal cavity and an opening. A light source is assembled within the internal cavity of the housing. An electrical wire is electrically connected to the light source at a first end and is configured to be contained at least in part within the housing. The opening is configured to permit withdrawal of a user selected amount of the electrical wire from within the internal cavity and/or to permit a user selected amount of the electrical wire to be inserted into the internal cavity.Type: GrantFiled: October 3, 2011Date of Patent: May 1, 2012Assignee: The L.D. Kichler Co.Inventors: Joseph John Janos, Christine Carlson
