  • Patent number: 7563125
Abstract: A jack assembly is provided and includes a jack housing and a contact sub-assembly joined to a rear end of the housing. The contact sub-assembly includes a plurality of conductor channels that each hold an insulation displacement contact (IDC) therein. The jack assembly also includes a connector cap that is mounted to the jack housing and is formed from a non-conductive material having conductive particles dispersed therein. The connector cap has a body arranged to at least partially cover the contact sub-assembly. The body has an inner surface and a plurality of crosswalls projecting outwardly from the inner surface. Each crosswall has a gap and is positioned to be inserted into one of the plurality of conductor channels such that the IDC fits within the gap.

    Filed: November 12, 2007
Date of Patent: July 21, 2009
    Assignee: Tyco Electronics Corporation

  • Patent number: 7329137
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to modular plugs including a housing for holding a plurality of terminals that are engageable with contacts of a mating plug receptacle. The modular plug further includes a slider latch having a distal end portion integrally formed with the housing, a proximal end portion configured and adapted for operative engagement with the housing, and an intermediate portion disposed between the distal end portion and the proximal end portion. The intermediate portion defines at least one flex point. Accordingly, when the proximal end portion of the slider latch is operatively connected to the housing, the intermediate portion of the slider latch defines an anti-snag feature. The slider latch facilitates locking and unlocking of the modular plug with a plug receptacle when in a densely packed array.

  • Publication number: 20050191010
Abstract: A network comprising: (a) a plurality of different receptacles for facilitating an electrical connection to different information networks requiring different access authorization, each different receptacle coupled to one and only one different information network, each receptacle having an inner surface with a first geometry, the first geometry comprising at least a slot, a certain number of receptacles having different first geometries in which the slots are in different positions; and (b) a plurality of different plugs for coupling with the different receptacles, each plug having a second geometry, the second geometry comprising at least a key in a certain position, the certain number of plugs having different second geometries in which the keys are in different positions, each different first geometry corresponding to one and only one second geometry such that the plugs and receptacles of corresponding first and second geometries are mating pairs.
