  • Patent number: 11336789
Abstract: A method is disclosed. For example, the method executed by a processor of a multi-function device (MFD) includes receiving a video image of a multi-function device (MFD), applying an object detection model to the video image to generate an annotated image with bounding boxes around persons detected in the video image, determining a number of the bounding boxes, determining that the number of bounding boxes is greater than a threshold in a policy associated with the MFD, and deactivating the MFD.

  • Patent number: 9185245
Abstract: A method, non-transitory computer readable medium, and apparatus for remotely controlling a camera connected to a multi-function device are disclosed. For example, the method receives a request from a third party server to instruct the camera to take a photograph, sends a call to the camera to take the photograph, wherein the call is sent to the camera over a universal serial bus (USB) connection between the multi-function device and the camera, receives the photograph and transmits the photograph to the third party server.

  • Patent number: 9176751
Abstract: Apparatus are provided that includes a multi-function device that is configured to perform a plurality of functions relating to manipulating a document. The multi-function device can have a display configured to display interface tool for facilitating the customization of a function of the multi-function device. The interface tools allow a user to communicate with the multi-function device to enter information relating to the customized function. The custom application can be configured to be installed on the multi-function device, and the custom application is used to customize the multi-function device.

  • Patent number: 8608067
Abstract: The present specification discloses methods and systems to enable a peripheral device, which otherwise lacks intrinsic networking capabilities, to be accessible over a network once attached to a local multi-function device, such as computers, laptops, printers, copiers, or other computing devices. An enabling application executing on the multi-function device includes a first layer that communicates with the local peripheral device using a driver specific to the peripheral device, a second layer that abstracts a subset of functions from the first layer and exposes the subset of functions to a third layer, and the third layer which communicates over the network with a client and provides the client access to the subset of functions through standardized calls.

  • Patent number: 7511837
Abstract: A partial print provider in the form of a Dynamically Linked Library (DLL) that implements a portion of a commercial spooler Application Programming Interface (API). The print provider translates between printer and job properties under the commercial spooler to and from printer and job properties under a proprietary spooler. This permits a third party proprietary print spooler to interface with the commercial print spooler, allowing greater control and management of print jobs by network clients than is available under the commercial spooler. The partial print provider allows the proprietary spooler to leverage off of the commercial print system's print services, protocols and network technologies, obviating the need to replace all commercial spooler and print services with custom code and reducing costs substantially.
