    Abstract: A method for monitoring the kinematics of an epicyclic planetary gearbox to be tested, wherein a) in a training phase a model of the kinematics is determined based on data measured at an epicyclic planetary gearbox by means of a vibration sensor device; wherein subsequently b) the model is used in a test phase for pattern recognition in oscillation data of an epicyclic planetary gearbox to be tested, wherein angular positions of at least one planetary wheel in the epicyclic planetary gearbox to be tested are determined by means of the pattern recognition. The invention also relates to a device for monitoring the kinematics of an epicyclic planetary gearbox.
