  • Patent number: 6185198
Abstract: A method and apparatus for full-duplex data communication in or for a wireless communications network, such as a cellular network, PCS network, or mobile satellite network, where a remote feature access control operation utilizes a switch to reserve and route selected voice channels or traffic channels in response to the remote feature access control operation. The method comprising the steps of: configuring a mobile switching center (MSC) to route the selected voice channels to a multi-port protocol converter (MPPC) for transmitting a selected data message on the selected voice channel. Transmitting the selected data message via the multi-port protocol converter on the selected voice channel via a data messaging channel during the remote feature access control operation.

  • Patent number: 6144859
Abstract: A wireless cellular communicator system and apparatus for telemetry tracking, surveillance, data transmission, identification, and remote monitoring includes a communicator for data encoding and communication which transmits mobile identification numbers and electronic serial numbers through an existing cellular telephone network. The data is manipulated and encrypted to place any meaning upon it depending upon the type of input apparatus which is utilized. The data is then decoded with a decoder and a comparative data base for monitoring, identification, surveillance, and data transmission.

  • Patent number: 6088431
Abstract: A method for paging network personal communications system voice and data services comprising transmitting a control channel origination data packet including data specifying an identification number, data specifying a user serial number, a voice airtime register data packet, and a sequence of dialed digits for activating a switch to activate a remote feature access control procedure. The control channel origination data packet is then transmitted through control channels or digital access channels of a paging network. The control channel origination data packet is received and stored cellular base station. The control channel origination data packet is relayed to a mobile switching center and then a selected service may be activated if debit information requirements of a user are met by loading and comparing parameter table values for the identification number and the serial number or the user at the mobile switching center.

  • Patent number: 5889474
Abstract: A method and apparatus of transmitting subject status information, such as the status and location of a parolee or individual under house arrest, to a central monitoring station (CMS) operated by, for example, a parole staff or correctional facility. The subject status information is transmitted by a band or collar attached to, for example, the leg or wrist of the subject. A cellular radio communicator receives, encodes and transmits the subject status information over the control channel of a cellular radio communications network as control signals, bypassing the voice channels, to a mobile switching center (MSC) of the cellular radio communications network. The MSC decodes and forwards the subject status information over the public switched telephone network (PSTN) to the CMS. Optionally, the CMS may send a command to the communicator over the same data paths, i.e., the PSTN to the MSC, then over the control channel, formatted as a control signal, to the cellular radio communications network communicator.

  • Patent number: 5594740
Abstract: A method and apparatus for wireless communication on an existing wireless communication network comprising taking existing data and manipulating the data to create manipulated data. The manipulated data is then translated into an application specific message. The application specific message is applied to control and communicate with an application specific apparatus, whereby wireless communication on the existing wireless communication network is provided without causing any disruption, system overloading, or limitation on normal system communication activity.

  • Patent number: 5525969
Abstract: A monitoring device useful in home arrest, identification, and surveillance activities, including a monitoring member communicatively linked to a remote communicator. The monitoring member includes a barcode strip secured therein. The monitoring member may be secured to an animate or inanimate object by a strap including a plurality of charged and uncharged conductors therein. The barcode is either printed on or covered by a photo-sensitive material, and a photo-flash element is positioned in proximity to the barcode. When the monitoring member is severed from the animate or inanimate object the photo-flash element is activated thereby altering the photo-sensitive material and obscuring the barcode. The photo-flash element is preferably energized by a battery.
