  • Publication number: 20100016809
Abstract: The present invention relates to a device for creating a vascular access for extracorporeal blood treatment using an extracorporeal blood treatment device, wherein the device for creating the vascular access has an electrically conductive puncture needle with a proximal endpiece and distal endpiece, and a base body that is made of electrically non-conductive material and into which the distal endpiece of the puncture needle is inserted. In the case of a properly arranged vascular access, the base body, which includes an electrically conductive contact element, lies on the skin of the patient, when the puncture needle is located within the vessel of the patient. A disconnection or dislocation is detected by the impedance between the electrically conductive puncture needle and the electrically conductive contact element being measured and compared to a limit value. If the impedance measured is within predetermined limits, this indicates a properly arranged vascular access.

  • Publication number: 20090120618
Abstract: The invention relates to a cooling apparatus for a computer system and a method for cooling at least one heat producing component of a computer system. The cooling apparatus for the computer system features an evaporator (2) for a working medium, which can be thermally coupled to the at least one heat producing component of the computer system. In this connection, the cooling apparatus is constructed as a heat engine or as an absorption refrigerator in order to carry out a thermodynamic cycle.

  • Publication number: 20090114370
Abstract: A method for using the waste heat of a computer system with a plurality of processors comprises the following steps. Jobs in the computer system are distributed to the processors in such a way that processors of a first group of processors are operated with a high processor load and processors of a second group of processors are operated with only a minimal processor load. In another method, waste heat is dissipated from the processors by a cooling device, wherein the waste heat dissipated from the processors is regulated in such a way that the processor assumes a temperature that is greater than a given minimum temperature. In both cases, the waste heat of the processors is transferred to a device for using the waste heat.

  • Publication number: 20080312960
Abstract: The invention relates to a system of a plurality of medical treatment units that are respectively associated with a patient, and a plurality of peripheral appliances also respectively associated with a patient. The peripheral appliances transmit control signals and patient signals to the treatment units, while the treatment units receive the control signals and patient signals from the peripheral appliances. The present invention ensures that the treatment units do not receive patient signals from other peripheral appliances that are not associated with the particular patient. The operating staff allocate a peripheral appliance to a patient and confirm the successful association of the peripheral appliance with the treatment unit allocated to the patient.

  • Patent number: 7237946
Abstract: The inventive IR camera is used to identify areas of a surface in which there is an increased risk of condensation, by imaging the surface determining, from humidity and temperature values, a condensation temperature at which there is a risk of condensation on the surface, comparing the temperature in at least one image point registered by the camera to the condensation temperature coloring any image points having a temperature lower than the condensation temperature in a particular color, or grey tone, selected to indicate an increased risk of condensation.

  • Patent number: 6451606
Abstract: A disposable receptacle unit for solutions is described, in particular for solutions used in calibrating sensors for measurement of physiologically relevant parameters. The receptacle is a disposable blister pack for a single use that includes several chambers to hold solutions. Each chamber is connected to a sample channel by an outlet channel sealed by a sealing element. The sensors for measurement of physiological parameters are preferably part of the receptacle unit. To calibrate the sensors, the calibration solutions in the chambers are metered into the sample channel after opening the corresponding sealing elements. After the treatment, the receptacle unit is discarded together with the sensors.
