  • Publication number: 20200191569
Abstract: A geodetic stake-out system comprising a stake-out device, a total station, and a guidance system. The stake-out device includes a reflector and a pointing tip. The total station includes a target unit comprising a telescope, a distance meter, and a sensor. The stake-out system includes a direction measuring unit for measuring a horizontal and vertical rotational position of the target unit which is rotatable horizontally and vertically, the sensor generating sensor data indicative for a position of the stake-out device. The guidance system comprises a guidance computer generating guidance data based on the sensor data, and an output device providing a guidance signal based on the guidance data, and a connection system for connecting the sensor with the guidance computer and the guidance computer with the output device, the guidance signal guiding a user of the stake-out device towards a horizontal centre of the field of view of the telescope.

  • Patent number: 7654245
Abstract: In a method for operating a spark-ignition, direct-injection internal combustion engine, wherein fuel is injected into a cylinder of the internal combustion engine and is ignited by a spark plug as a function of at least the load of the internal combustion engine, a crank angle is determined at which a first amount of fuel is injected into the cylinder during the intake stroke whereby a lean mixture is formed in the cylinder, subsequently, as a function of at least the load of the internal combustion engine, a crank angle is determined at which a second amount of fuel is injected, whereby a mixture cloud, which is richer than the lean mixture is formed in the lean mixture and a third amount of fuel is injected in the form of a stratified injection for forming a locally enriched and ignitable fuel/air mixture in the region of the spark plug close to an ignition time which is then ignited by the spark plug causing also combustion of the mixture cloud and the lean mixture.

  • Patent number: 7370629
Abstract: In a method for operating a spark-ignition internal combustion engine with direct fuel injection in the post-start phase at low temperatures, fuel is supplied to the combustion air in a pilot injection (MH) of a first fuel quantity during an intake stroke of the internal combustion engine such that the pilot injection (MH) forms a homogeneous, lean air/fuel mixture (?>1) in substantially the entire combustion chamber, and a main injection (MS) of a second fuel quantity is subsequently injected into the combustion chamber during a compression stroke directly before the ignition time (ZT), said main injection (MS) forming in the region of the spark plug a stratified, rich air/fuel mixture (?<1), which is then ignited by the spark plug.

  • Patent number: 6223714
Abstract: Switching off a fuel pump of a fuel supply system for the internal combustion engine with the aid of a signal from a retardation sensor of the airbag in the event of a crash in which the motor vehicle is involved is known. To further enhance the safety of motor-vehicle occupants, a method is proposed for an internal combustion engine which has at least one fuel injection valve, a fuel supply system for the at least one fuel injection valve, and a sensor for detecting a crash. After the crash has been detected by means of the sensor, the fuel injection valve is brought into an open position, with the result that fuel is discharged from the fuel supply system of the fuel injection valve into a combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine. The method according to the invention is provided for internal combustion engines with at least one fuel injection valve.

  • Patent number: 6145490
Abstract: A changeover is made between a so-called low-pressure starting with a homogeneous mixture and a so-called high-pressure starting with a stratified mixture as a function of an engine coolant temperature. Since, during the high-pressure starting of the internal combustion engine, injection is released only when a pressure in a high-pressure accumulator exceeds a predetermined threshold value, the injected fuel is better prepared. During such high-pressure starting, injection is predetermined by an injection quantity and an angle of an end of injection. Predetermining the angle of the end of injection, in contrast to predetermining an angle of commencement of injection during conventional low-pressure starting, ensures that there is an ignitable mixture present at the sparkplug, specifically irrespective of a duration of injection.
