  • Publication number: 20080024145
Abstract: In fill-level measuring devices according to the pulse-transit-time method, a reflection that is generated internally in a microwave module is used as a reference for transit time measuring. For generating the reference pulse, the microwave module comprises its own sampling mixer or its own oscillator. Subsequently, the echo signal and the reference pulse can be further processed separately or together. No delay line is necessary on the transmission frequency of the radar sensor. Interference as a result of leakage signals is largely prevented.

  • Publication number: 20070182621
Abstract: The shape or amplitude of reference pulses in a filling level radar typically depend on the component quality of the circulator used, of a transmitting/receiving coupler, or else of the circuit temperature. In case of large echoes at close range, the quality of the measurement may deteriorate. A radar module for extracting a reference signal for a filling level radar comprises a tap extracting the reference signal and a delay line delaying the transmit signal. Delaying the transmit signal on its way to the antenna takes place after the extraction of the leakage pulse.

  • Publication number: 20070005669
Abstract: The present invention provides a new method and system for automated I/O optimization of restored databases. At the time a backup image of the database is created metadata of the database are automatically generated. The metadata includes information about the physical database layout and disk I/O performance on a source system. Metadata and backup image of the database are then backed up on an external storage device together resulting in a new, extended backup image. In a preferred embodiment the backup image of the database includes the metadata. At the time a restore of the backup image on a target system is made the metadata and information about number and sizes of the disks on said target system are retrieved. Based on that information an optimized physical database layout for the database on the target system with respect to an optimized I/O performance is calculated. Finally, the backup image is restored on the target system according to the optimized physical database layout.

  • Patent number: 7089078
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for adjusting the degree of engagement of a tool (6, 7) disposed on the outer radius of at least one associated rotating roll (4, 5) with a web of material (1) running past it. The aim of the invention is to improve the method so that the degree of engagement of the tool can be adjusted without loss of time and without producing any scraps. To this end, for adjusting the degree of engagement of the tool (6, 7) with the web of material (1), first several different degrees of engagement are electronically defined by means of different peripheral speeds of the tool (6, 7) so as to be retrievable. Once an adjuster (13) is activated, the change to another defined degree of engagement takes place during operation precisely when the tool (6, 7) engages with the web so that the new degree of engagement is carried out when the tool (6, 7) engages with the web of material (1) for the next time.

  • Patent number: 6811071
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a metal structure in which the metal structure has separate walls forming channels through which a fluid can flow includes at least partially wetting the walls inside the channels with an adhesive, bringing the metal structure into contact with a solder that adheres to the adhesive, and carrying out a heat treatment to form soldered connections between the separate walls. The method is distinguished by the fact that the dosed delivery of the adhesive is performed by at least one dosing element having a honeycomb configuration and having an inlet side (8) and an outlet side, the element being connected to the adhesive. The adhesive enters the dosing element through the inlet side and is uniformly distributed into the channels through the outlet side. The invention also includes a device for wetting the metal structure with the adhesive.
