The film-coated carrier strip is guided over an applicator foot which is looped around by the carrier strip with a clip-type slide element of a friction-reducing material secured to the applicator foot. The applicator foot comprises a pivotally hinged extension arm having an end in the end portion for receiving a profile member for the slide element.

Abstract: In a friction coupling for the torque-limiting transmission of force between a core of a coil for winding or unwinding a tape and a rotary support for said core there is a first coupling component with an annular cross-section and a second coupling component taking the form of a moulding, in which the annular coupling component is in frictional engagement at several spaced contact points distributed over its periphery with contact area regions on the moulding, and in which one of the two coupling components is secured to the core of the coil, and the other coupling component is a component of the rotary support. The moulding is rigidly dimensionally stable while the annular first coupling component is made of a flexible material. On the occurrence of a relative movement between the two coupling components, the moulding continually deforms the annual coupling component via the contact points.

A supply spool on which the tape carrying the film is wound is rotatable in the main housing part. A takeup spool onto which the tape is wound is rotatable in the main housing part adjacent the supply spool. A slide is displaceable longitudinally in the housing between a retracted inner end position relatively close to the spools and an extended outer end position relatively far from the spools and projecting from the housing. The tape is spanned over an applicator foot fixed on and displaceable with the slide. Structure on the housing releasably retains the foot and slide in the front extended position. The spools can be replaced by removing the housing cover part and then pushing the foot back into the inner end position, thereby taking all tension off the tape. The two spools are then removed and a new set of spools joined by a new tape are set in place.

A guide extends parallel to the hole axis through the lower wall and the guide, supply spool, and body are made of substantially the same material. A supply of tape has an outer end fixed to the takeup spool and an inner end and forms a loop having an upper leg engaging the guide between the end walls and a lower leg engaging the guide below the lower end wall The inner end of the tape is releasably secured to the supply spool so it can be separated therefrom with very little force, and a pair of spaced arms unitarily formed with the body hold the loop.

The lever is connected to the feed unit during inward travel of the lever from the start to the intermediate position for actuating the feed unit with the lever and paying out a piece of the tape and is connected to the cutter only during inward travel of the lever between the intermediate and finish positions for cutting off the piece of tape payed out.

Abstract: The cap for the writing instrument comprises a jacket mounted slidably on a sealing insert or sleeve which provides a sealed moisture chamber for the writing tip when the cap is on the writing instrument. Near the writing tip there is a circular bulge on the shaft of the writing instrument which enters into a sealing engagement with an interior passage of the sealing insert. On putting the cap on the writing instrument the sealing insert is pushed over the circular bulge until it contacts a contacting stop on the jacket. Then the circular bulge presses tightly into the sealing insert and it locks the jacket to the writing instrument so that the entire arrangement is kept in that position until the cap is removed. A signal slider is attached with the sealing insert which is extendable out from the end of the jacket in order to signal in its extended position the proper seating of the cap on the writing instrument. Erroneous indications of a sealed state are prevented with our invention.

Abstract: A method of and apparatus for the production of wicking tips for pens and markers in which the blanks, pointed at their ends, are first notched on opposite sides and are then cut through between the notches to form two tips from each blank. The invention simplifies the sharpening and dressing required of the tools which are used.

Abstract: An indicating cap for a writing instrument has an insert with a blind passage adapted to fit over the tip of e.g. a felt or fiber tip pen or marker and axially movable in a sleeve forming a cap between two limiting positions. One of these positions is defined by a spring detent shoulder against which a shoulder of the insert abuts when the cap is withdrawn from the writing implement. When the cap is thrust properly onto the writing implement the insert is pressed into its second position in which a pin of appropriate color is visible through an end of the sleeve where the projecting pin can be protected by a hood or basket.
