  • Patent number: 9687308
Abstract: A method for computer assisted determination of values of correction parameters for positioning a medical device relative to a target structure or to a reference base. The method includes a numerical procedure that includes the steps of: i) automatic detection of the projection of a cylindrical reference means in a medical image and determination of a minimum of four characteristic landmarks within the projection of the cylindrical reference means; ii) generating a virtual geometric representation of the cylindrical reference means; iii) determining the virtual projection points representing the characteristic landmarks using a virtual geometric representation of the cylindrical reference means; and iv) iterative determination of the position and orientation of the cylindrical reference means by matching the virtual projection points of the virtual geometric representation of the cylindrical reference means with the characteristic landmarks of the projection of the cylindrical reference means.

  • Patent number: 9119641
Abstract: A device and a method for guiding an instrument, tool or implant with respect to a three-dimensional body. The device includes a rod shaped member with a central axis, a rear end, a front end and a length L2. A first targeting element is fixed to the rod shaped member coaxially to the central axis. The first targeting element has a first center, and is arranged on the rod shaped member with the first center at a distance A1>0 from the rear end. A second targeting element with a second center is fixed to the rod shaped member coaxially to the central axis with the second center at a distance A2<A1 from the rear end. The first targeting element has a diameter DK measured orthogonal to the central axis of a minimum of 10 mm.

  • Patent number: 9060819
Abstract: A bone fixation device (1) comprising: A) a first bone implant (2) with at least one through hole (11) having an upper opening (3) with the area A and a lower opening (4) in the case of a bone plate (10) as the first bone implant (2); or an outer opening with the area A and an inner opening in the case of a hollow intramedullary nail as the first bone implant (2); B) at least one second bone implant (5) with a head (6) and a shaft for insertion into one or more of said through holes (11); and C) at least one closing cover (7) for closing said upper opening (3) or outer opening of said through hole (11) for preventing bone and soft tissue ingrowth and/or bacterial invasion into said through hole (11) and into said second bone implant (5) wherein said closing cover (7) is D) removably attachable to said first bone implant (2); and E) dimensioned and shaped in such a way that upon attachment to said first bone implant (2) it is apt to cover at least the entire area A of said upper opening (3) or outer opening an
