  • Patent number: 6959543
Abstract: An exhaust gas manifold of an exhaust system for an internal combustion engine includes a diverging pipe elbow and exhaust pipes. Each exhaust pipe has an end and is connected to the diverging pipe elbow. The ends of the exhaust pipes extend substantially unidirectionally into the pipe elbow. The sections of the exhaust pipes adjacent to the ends are joined and together form a circular cross section. The portions of the exhaust pipes adjacent to the joined sections are separated from each other with a gap.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 30, 2002
Date of Patent: November 1, 2005
    Assignee: Ing. h.c.F. Porsche AG
    Inventors: Kim Havemann, Christoph Pleuss
  • Patent number: 6913439
Abstract: An exhaust gas turbocharger for an internal-combustion engine has a turbine housing and compressor housing in which a turbine wheel and a compressor impeller are connected with one another shaft. The turbine housing has a spirally-extending inlet duct for the exhaust gases. Devices for the flow deflection can be provided in the inlet duct. As a result, the thermal stress as well as the efficiency of an exhaust gas turbocharger with a spirally extending inlet duct for the exhaust gases are improved.

Inventors: Erwin Rutschmann, Joachim Kelm, Christoph Pleuss, Andreas Musgiller
  • Patent number: 6688103
Abstract: An arrangement is provided for fastening an exhaust gas turbocharger on an exhaust gas manifold of an internal-combustion engine. A manifold flange is provided at the exhaust gas manifold, on which manifold flange an exhaust gas turbocharger can be fastened which is also provided with a flange surface. It is provided that the manifold flange provided on one side of the exhaust gas manifold is connected with sleeves leading to the opposite side of the exhaust gas manifold, in which sleeves screws are guided for the fastening of the exhaust gas turbocharger. This permits a simple and easily accessible mounting or demounting of the exhaust gas turbocharger on the exhaust gas manifold of the internal-combustion engine.
