  • Patent number: 8313101
Abstract: A feeder for feeding printed products includes a casing comprising a one-piece frame including two spaced apart end plates and a plurality of crosspieces connecting the two end plates. At least one shaft is arranged on the end plates. At least one positioning element is arranged on the end plates to position the shaft on the end plates.

  • Patent number: 7891649
Abstract: A sheet feeder for supplying a conveying device with folded signatures from a stack of folded signatures, the sheet feeder including a gripper drum. The gripper drum includes at least one gripper to individually remove respective signatures and a stopping device. The stopping device including a stop element to stop and align the signatures with the fold of the signatures in a forward direction. The sheet feeder includes an opening device to open the individual signatures, to deposit the signatures on the conveying device, and to reverse the forward direction of the signatures. The sheet feeder includes a delay element moving in the same direction as the gripper drum and at a conveying speed less than the gripper drum speed. A press-on device to press the signatures released by the gripper against the delay element and to slow down the individual signatures prior to the signatures hitting the stop element.

  • Patent number: 7753372
Abstract: An apparatus for opening and depositing a signature onto a transporting device includes a continuously rotating gripper cylinder having a first shaft and carrying at least one signature. First and second opening cylinders are arranged below the gripper cylinder to open the signature and deposit the opened signature onto the transporting device. The first and second opening cylinders each have a second and third shafts, respectively, extending substantially parallel to the first shaft. The first and second opening cylinders each have a peripheral section, the peripheral section of the first opening cylinder engaging in a region of rotation of the gripper cylinder to grip a signature such that the signature can be released again. The first opening cylinder includes a guide element to aid in conveying the signature.

  • Patent number: 6357479
Abstract: A rotary disc valve with a stationary valve plate provided with a vacuum connection, a rotary slide member mounted so as to be movable between first and second valve positions, wherein the slide member has a breakthrough connecting the vacuum connection to a suction opening in the first valve position, wherein the suction opening is connected to an aerating opening in the second valve position, and wherein both valve positions define a suctioning angle. The valve further includes a device for adjusting the size of the suctioning angle.

  • Patent number: 6357738
Abstract: A feeder has a mechanism for individually and cyclically depositing sheets from a stack on a conveying device. A gear mechanism has a powered wheel and a power take-off wheel, and connected with the depositing mechanism. For adjusting the deposit cycle, the two wheels are rotatable in respect to each other by an adjusting device. The power take-off wheel is arranged on a hollow shaft, and this hollow shaft receives a further shaft on which the other wheel is arranged. The invention allows a rapid and exact matching of the cycle of the feeder to that of the conveying device.

  • Patent number: 6308945
Abstract: Signatures (1) are individually gripped from a stack (2) by a rotatable extracting cylinder (A) and transferred to a first rotating opening cylinder (B) and a second rotating opening cylinder (C) which open the gripped signatures (1) at the edges (4, 5) opposite from the fold (3) and drop the signatures onto the transport device (6). To open and transport the signatures (1) onward, the signatures (1) are gripped at their respective protruding edge (5) by a clamping device (48) disposed on the first opening cylinder (B). Projections are provided which catch behind the above-referenced edges (4, 5) in the extracting cylinder (A) and transfer the edges to the clamping device (48). These projections include a guide arm (7) which is movably supported on the first opening cylinder (B) and moves in response to a rotation of the first opening cylinder (B) from a retracted position into a position projecting over the circumference (27) of the first opening cylinder (B).
