Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing coated workpieces, which includes (a) electrodeposition of one or more layers containing at least one metal and/or metal alloy on a substrate and (b) thermal treatment of the coated substrate at a temperature of between 300° C. and 1000° C. in such a way that at least the surface layer of the substrate and the layer or layers applied in step (a) partially and/or completely interdiffuse. The invention also relates to coated workpieces produced by this method.
