  • Publication number: 20150107550
Abstract: A method is proposed for controlling and regulating an internal combustion engine according to the HCCI combustion method, in which a first fuel in a basic mixture is ignited using a pilot fuel, and in which the fuel quantities of the first fuel and the pilot fuel are changed to represent an operating point of the internal combustion engine. The invention is characterized in that a target combustion energy (VE(SL)) is calculated as a function of a power demand and, based on the target combustion energy (VE(SL)), the fuel quantity of the first fuel and the fuel quantity of the pilot fuel are determined using a distribution factor (CHI), wherein the distribution factor (CHI) is calculated as a function of an actual combustion position (VL(IST)) to a target combustion position (VL(SL)) using a combustion position controller (18).

  • Publication number: 20120173125
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for operating an internal combustion engine and a combustion chamber for such an internal combustion engine. According to the method, a thinned base mixture is ignited by additionally injecting a pilot fuel at an injection point in time, wherein the injection point in time of the pilot fuel is selected such that the pilot fuel is not fully homogenized with the base mixture.

  • Publication number: 20110256973
Abstract: A drive train, wherein the drive train has a first electric machine (EMI) which can be operated in a motor or generator operating state, and a planetary gear mechanism (100) having a rotational-speed changing apparatus, wherein the rotational-speed changing apparatus is configured, in particular, as an internal gear (110) and/or as a planetary gear (114) and/or as a sun gear (112), wherein the planetary gear mechanism (100) has a drive side and a driven side, characterized in that the first electric machine (EMI) engages into the rotational-speed changing apparatus in a controlling manner in the motor or generator operating state, with the result that a step-up transmission ratio is formed in the planetary gear mechanism (100).

  • Patent number: 5667145
Abstract: An injection nozzle for diesel engines is disclosed with a direct fuel injection into combustion air in the combustion space having a swirl. The nozzle is constructed as a hole-type nozzle with several injection openings arranged at uniform distances and distributed along the nozzle circumference. In order to further develop such an injection nozzle in a manner which permits shorter injection durations and an improved utilization of the air, an additional injection opening with a smaller diameter is constructed in each case between two adjacent larger injection openings, whereby the overall cross-sectional surface of all injection openings becomes larger without any drifting into one another of the thus formed fuel sprays.

  • Patent number: 5003934
Abstract: A hood covering the space between cylinder banks of an internal-combustion engine which are arranged in a V-shape is provided for the gastight enclosure of a ram pipe arranged in an area between cylinder banks and exhaust pipes leading the fuel gases from the cylinders to the ram pipe. At this type of a hood, sealing surfaces are obtained with respect to the crankcase as well as with respect to the cylinder heads. The hood can be constructed with a central hood part which is fastened to the crankcase and only has contact surfaces with respect to the crankcase, but not with respect to the cylinder heads. Wedge-shaped hood parts, which are constructed in the form of elbows, are arranged in a V-shaped opening between the central hood part and the cylinder heads and are pulled into the V-shaped opening by means of necked-down bolts. Common sealing surfaces exist with the cylinder heads and the central hood part.
