  • Publication number: 20100317227
Abstract: An electrical connector assembly (10) including a housing (20) having a plurality of terminal receiving cavities for receiving a plurality of terminal lead wires. The housing contains a primary matt seal (30) having a plurality of holes corresponding to the terminal receiving cavities and a secondary gel seal (40) adjacent to the primary seal. A cover (50) with holes similarly aligned with the terminal receiving cavities is attached to the housing, exerting a compressive force on the primary and secondary seals. • Patent number: 5697817
Abstract: A modular jack type connector includes a dielectric housing having a plug-receiving cavity open at one end of the housing. A plurality of terminals are mounted on the housing, with spring beam contact portions extending in cantilever fashion in a single row within the plug-receiving cavity. The contact portions extend from curved base portions located in the housing. Tail portions of the terminals project from the housing in two rows generally parallel to the single row of contact portions, such that each pair of adjacent terminals includes a tail portion in each row thereof. The terminals include straight intermediate sections extending between the curved base portions and the tail portions, with the intermediate sections of each pair of adjacent terminals being substantially separated from each other in a direction transversely of the rows.

  • Patent number: 5312273
Abstract: A shielded modular jack is provided for interfacing a modular plug with a printed circuit board. The plug has an external conductive shield, and the jack includes a dielectric housing having a plug-receiving cavity. A plurality of terminals are mounted on the housing with resilient cantilevered contact arms extending into the cavity for engaging respective contacts of the plug when the plug is inserted into the cavity. An electrically conductive shield includes a pair of electrically isolated shield portions each having a board contact projecting beyond the housing for contacting a circuit trace on the printed circuit board, along with a shield wall disposed in the plug-receiving cavity for electrically contacting the shield on the plug when the plug is inserted into the cavity. The inserted plug electrically couples the shield portions and, thereby, establishes electrical continuity between the circuit traces on the printed circuit board.
