  • Patent number: 9848711
Abstract: A mattress assembly includes a first layer of viscoelastic foam defining an upper surface, and a second layer of non-viscoelasiic foam supporting the first layer. The mattress assembly also includes a plurality of static spring elements positioned beneath the upper surface for enhancing a firmness of the combined first and second layers.
    Type: Grant

  • Publication number: 20150314715
Abstract: A cushion includes a foam body having first and second lateral support portions defining an elongated recess therebetween. The cushion can also include a cover at least partially enclosing the foam body and means for releasably coupling the cushion to a support member to facilitate transport of the support member and the cushion as a unit. Also, the cushion can include another body positioned in the recess, removable from the recess for use in supporting a lumbar or posterior area of a user, and releasably attachable within the recess by one or more fasteners.

  • Publication number: 20150305515
Abstract: A mattress includes a first layer of viscoelastic foam having an upper surface and a layer of non-viscoelastic foam supporting the first layer. The mattress also includes a plurality of static bolster elements positioned beneath the upper surface and clustered together to define a plurality of troughs between adjacent bolster elements. The first layer of viscoelastic foam is further compressible in regions of the mattress corresponding with the troughs than surrounding regions corresponding with the bolster elements. Each of the bolster elements is capable of exerting a reaction force having a lateral component on an individual pushing against the bolster element with a line of action through one of the troughs.

  • Patent number: 6908979
Abstract: Polyurethane gels, a reaction system for preparing the gels, and a process for producing polyurethane gels. The reaction system comprises a polyisocyanate composition and an isocyanate-reactive composition comprising a relatively high molecular weight mono-ol and a relatively low molecular weight polyol having a nominal isocyanate-reactive functionality of at least 3. The gels do not require the use of plasticizers. The reaction system and process offer a surprising combination of long working time and rapid cure.
