  • Publication number: 20170165592
Abstract: Systems and methods for selectively extracting hydrogen gas dissolved in oil are provided. In one embodiment, a system includes a selectively permeable membrane provided at a point of contact between oil and a sensor chamber. The selectively permeable membrane has a hydrogen specificity and a thickness selected to minimize detection of further gasses dissolved in the oil by a hydrogen gas sensor cross-sensitive to the further gasses. The selectively permeable membrane can include polyimide. The further gasses include carbon monoxide, acetylene, and ethylene. The system can include a further membrane and a porous metal disc. The porous metal disc is bound to the selectively permeable membrane by using the further membrane as an adhesive layer and by applying pressure and temperature. The porous metal disc supports the selectively permeable membrane and the further membrane against pressure of the oil when exposed to a vacuum. The further membrane includes fluorohydrocarbons.

  • Patent number: 9027895
Abstract: A portable support for supporting equipment above a surface having an opening to a subsurface space. The support includes a head, an elevator on the head, and legs connected to the head for supporting the head above the surface. Each of the legs has a foot for engaging the surface when supporting the head above the surface. The support also includes an elongate rod vertically mounted on the elevator for movement between a raised position, in which an upper end of the rod extends above the head, and a lowered position, in which a lower end of the rod extends below the feet of the legs to extend into the subsurface space. The support includes an instrument platform positionable on the lower end of the rod when in the lowered position to support the equipment in the subsurface space when the rod is in the lowered position.

  • Publication number: 20120039840
Abstract: Provided are methods increasing, or, alternatively, decreasing IL-6 and/or gp130-mediated signaling in mammalian subjects using p28. Methods of preventing and/or treating autoimmune disorders, cancer, transplant rejection, and other IL-6-associated diseases, as well as methods of enhancing an IL-6-mediated immune response, are also described.

  • Publication number: 20080038223
Abstract: Compositions and methods relating to WSX-1 and p28 (IL-30) are provided. In particular, methods of treating inflammatory conditions in mammalian subjects using various WSX-1, p28, EBI3, and gp130 polypeptides and complexes or moieties that bind to or modulate activity of such complexes are described. Isolated or recombinant complexes including soluble WSX-1 or gp130 polypeptides, isolated or recombinant WSX-1 fusion proteins, and isolated or recombinant p28 fusion proteins are also described.

  • Publication number: 20060171879
Abstract: The production of Hydrogen and/or Zinc Sulfate by the chemical reaction of Sulfuric Acid and Zinc Coated Steel or another Zinc and Metal material. The sulfuric acid and zinc coated metal are brought together in a closed container. The dissimilar metals intensify the reaction—act as a catalyst. The hydrogen will bubble off the reaction and can be captured and purified if needed. When the reaction is spent, the chief by-product is zinc sulfate which can be collected and converted to a form for sale.

  • Publication number: 20050186938
Abstract: A network of receiving stations receives encoded signals from portable radio transmitters that are either hand held or implantable into the body. Each of the radio transmitters has a unique identification number associated with it that is transmitted as part of the signal. It is possible to estimate the location of any single transmitter by figuring out the bearing and range of the transmitters from one or more receiving stations based on signal strength as received by the stations. Because each transmitter has a unique identification number, it is possible to track the location of, for example, kidnapped children, by listening for a signal containing a specific identification number.

  • Publication number: 20050156751
Abstract: The invention provides apparatus having a sensor system for providing sensor information for a monitoring, control or other operating function of the apparatus. The sensor system comprises: a transducer (16) adapted to be responsive to a predetermined environmental characteristic of the apparatus for providing an electrical output, and means (18) adjacent to the transducer to accentuate the said characteristic. At least one sensor (20) is arranged to be operated by power derived from the electrical output for generating a detection signal, and means (38, 40) arranged to be operated by power derived from the electrical output and responsive to the detection signal are also provided for communicating sensor information to a processing unit remote from the sensor system and associated with the said function.
