  • Publication number: 20220242555
Abstract: Presented are a method and apparatus for an aircraft flight surface actuation system including a motor having an output shaft. A gearbox is coupled with the output shaft, whereby a first driving force output via the motor is converted to a second driving force. A torque shaft assembly is driveably coupled with the gearbox. The torque shaft assembly includes a first tube, a second tube located at least partially through the first tube and located coaxial therewith, wherein the first tube comprises an axial preload operable to mitigate lateral deflection, and wherein the first tube comprises a torsional preload operable to mitigate torsional deflection. • Patent number: 11371861
Abstract: A system determines a set of POIs that are visible from a location. The system stores a visibility map for each POI. A visibility map includes data about locations or regions from which the associated POI is visible. The data may include information about how visible the POI is from different locations. The system divides a region into road bins (e.g., geofences a route passes through). Each road bin is associated with a set of POIs that are visible from locations within the road bin. When the system receives a request from a user device for information about visible POIs, the system determines a road bin that corresponds to the location of the user device, identifies POIs associated with the road bin, and transmits information about the set of POIs to the user device.

  • Patent number: 11359929
Abstract: Route guidance using less client device power and bandwidth is enabled by automatically selecting portions of a map to display with higher and lower levels of detail. An origin location and destination location are displayed at a higher level of detail, while portions between origin and destination are displayed at a lower level of detail. A user of a transportation service may request a ride, specifying her pickup location and destination locations using a map rendered at a higher level of detail. While waiting for pickup, and while en route to the destination location, the user may consult a map that is rendered at a lower level of detail. When multiple users participate as riders in a transportation service, sharing a common driver but each having different pickup and drop off locations, portions of a map may be rendered differently for each user.

  • Patent number: 11268824
Abstract: A server identifies landmarks associated with users as the users take part in trips or otherwise interact with a navigation system. The server causes presentation of the identified landmarks to the users during future trips, such as part of navigational directions along a route to a particular destination, or on a visible portion of a map user interface. Presentation of the user-specific landmarks allows the users with more context and thus the ability to better navigate.

  • Publication number: 20210280930
Abstract: A battery cooling plate includes a first plate and a second plate that are joined together at their respective edges, and are spaced apart to define a coolant volume therebetween. Turbulating inserts can be arranged side-by-side within the coolant volume and multiple rods can extend through the turbulating inserts to at least partially define flow barriers between coolant flow channels. A fluid manifold for the battery cooling plate includes a non-planar wall that extends along a length-wise direction of the fluid manifold to separate a fluid volume into a first portion and a second portion. A series of apertures are arranged along the length-wise direction and successive ones of the apertures are fluidly connected to the first portion and to the second portion in alternating sequence.

  • Publication number: 20210247618
Abstract: A rugged integrated helmet vision system is disclosed. The system includes an accessory connector for connecting an accessory such as a heads-up display (HUD) device to a helmet worn by a user. The accessory connector includes a connector arm assembly with a portion that attaches the connector to the helmet, and another portion that attaches the accessory to the connector. The portions each provide multiple degrees of freedom of movement to allow adjustment of the connector with respect to the helmet, and adjustment of the accessory with respect to an eye of the user. The connector also provides the ability to lock positions of and the degrees of freedom of movement of the connector arm assembly via a single locking actuator with one-handed operation. In embodiments, a control box computer system at the helmet communicates with various soldier-portable networks to send and receive information for display by a HUD device accessory.

  • Publication number: 20210216605
Abstract: An online system receives a trip request including a location of the user requesting the trip. The online system identifies buildings or geographies based on the received location and determines location boundaries associated with the identified buildings or geographies. The online system identifies a set of hotspots representing locations that are frequently used for pickup or drop off. The online system additionally identifies a set of points of interest. The points of interest are, for example, businesses, landmarks, building names, or other visible information related to the location. The online system scores the set of points of interest based on a relative value of displaying the point of interest for orientation or navigation purposes. The online system modifies a user interface to display a map of the area including the identified location boundaries, hotspots, and one or more points of interest based on the scoring.

  • Patent number: 10980270
Abstract: The food product machine with a food supply, a rotary food pump connected to the food supply, a molding mechanism having a mold plate and a knockout drive, and a mold plate reciprocating between a fill and a discharge position. The knockout drive reciprocates a knockout plunger to discharge molded food products from the mold plate, the mold plate being reciprocated between a cavity fill position and a cavity discharge position. The machine includes a manifold connected an outlet of the food pump and having an outlet passageway connected to an inlet of the molding mechanism for filling the cavity of the mold plate. The machine can further include a fill plunger system for increasing the fill pressure of the food mass prior to filling the mold cavities. • Patent number: 10775183
Abstract: A method includes storing representations of a passengers and fleet vehicles. The method includes generating a graph representation of a geographic map that includes requested pick-up locations and drop-off locations for the passengers and generating a state graph representation of the passengers and the fleet vehicles. The state graph representation includes a plurality of nodes connected by edges. Each of the plurality of nodes represents a candidate state of the passengers and the fleet vehicles. A respective edge of the state graph representation represents an action of a respective vehicle picking up or dropping off a passenger. The respective edge has a cost that is based at least in part on traversal of the graph representation of the geographic map. The method further includes using the state graph representation to generate a set of routes and route the fleet vehicles in accordance with the generated set of routes.

  • Patent number: 10760917
Abstract: A transportation management system matches drivers with riders. After a rider has been picked up by a driver, a navigation route from the rider's pickup location to the driver's next stop is displayed to the driver on a mobile computing device. Prior to picking up the rider, only an initial portion of the navigation route is displayed to the driver. The amount of the initial portion displayed to the driver is dynamically determined according to its navigational complexity.
