Abstract: Techniques to provide a hybrid federated search are described. A web server may receive a search query from a client and select an immediate search source to perform the search. A script may be generated that causes the client to re-send the search query for a delayed search source. The script may execute on the client when the client displays the results from the immediate search source. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Abstract: Techniques for controlling the volumes of multiple audio output devices using a collective (master) volume control and an individual volume control for each audio output device. In one set of embodiments, each individual volume control can be configured to indicate the current absolute volume level of its corresponding audio output device. When the master volume control is manually adjusted, the individual volume controls can be automatically adjusted in a manner proportional to the manual adjustment of the master volume control. In addition, when an individual volume control is manually adjusted to a setting or value that exceeds the master volume control, the master volume control can be automatically adjusted to be equal to, or greater than, the manually adjusted setting for the individual volume control. In this scenario, the other individual volume controls can remain unchanged.

Abstract: Methods, systems and apparatus for image-based browsing through a plurality of digital media assets assisted by media cues are disclosed. The media cues can be provided by playback of short audio segments, referred to as snippets, of the digital media assets being browsed. The digital media assets can be grouped into collections of digital media assets. In one embodiment, as a user browses through digital media assets using visual representations of the collections of digital media assets, media cues can be provided.

Abstract: A device for producing a test adhesive strip roll, on which a test adhesive strip is wound, containing a thread access unit having a thread roll, on which a thread is wound; a thread cutting unit, which cuts a thread supplied by the thread access unit from the thread roll into the thread pieces having a predetermined length; an adhesive strip unrolling unit, which guides an adhesive strip; an assembly unit, which applies the thread pieces at a predetermined angle and a predetermined distance to one another to the surface of the supplied adhesive strip, so that a free end of a thread piece projects away from the edge of the adhesive strip; an unrolling unit, which unrolls a cover strip onto the surface of the adhesive strip and the thread pieces applied thereto to form the test adhesive strip, containing the adhesive strip, the cover strip, and the interposed thread pieces; and a rolling device, on which the test adhesive strip is rolled up.

Abstract: Methods, graphical user interfaces, computer apparatus and computer readable medium for merging different versions of multimedia project (e.g., movie) are disclosed. For example, modifications separately and concurrently made to multimedia assets of a multimedia project in production can be efficiently and intelligently merged. The multimedia assets can be audio, video or graphical elements.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for multi-channel panning is provided. Multi-channel panning allows the operator to view how a manipulated source signal will be heard by a listener at a reference point in a sound space. The panner user interface (UI) displays a separate visual element for each channel of source audio, thus the operator can see how each channel will be heard by a listener at a reference point in the sound space. Each visual element may depict the apparent point of origination of its corresponding source channel. Each visual element may depict the apparent width of origination of its corresponding source channel. Each visual element may depict the amplitude gain of its corresponding source channel. An operator can choose a mix of attenuating or collapsing behavior when panning. Moreover, the visual elements depict the relative proportions of attenuating and collapsing behavior.

Abstract: A mobility device includes at least a first front leg and at least a first rear leg connected to the first front leg connected to the first front leg. The first rear leg includes an upper member having a first end a second end and a lower member having a first end and a second end. The first end of the upper member is pivotally connected to the first end of the lower member, and the lower member is preferably pivotal between an extended use position and a folded storage position.

Abstract: A system for rules based electronic funds transaction processing includes a business layer configured to receive electronic funds transaction data from a source. The business layer processes the electronic funds transaction data according to at least one of multiple independent rules based processing rules including at least one rule configured to process clearinghouse network dishonored items. A file transfer agent is operatively connected to the business layer for initiating a request to build a data file from the processed electronic funds transaction data. In response to building the data file, the file transfer agent operates to transfer the data file to at least one of a financial institution, an agent of a financial institution, and an electronic funds transaction clearinghouse network for placement of the data file on the electronic funds transaction clearinghouse network.
