  • Publication number: 20170087929
Abstract: Herein is described a non-metallic rim for a wheel, the rim comprising: a barrel having first and second flanges extending radially outward from opposing edges of the barrel, and the barrel comprising a first bead seat and a second bead seat arranged axially inwardly, respectively, of the first and second flanges, wherein a primary structural component extends at least through the first flange and the barrel, the primary structural component being capable of bearing the majority of the radial and/or lateral load that, in use, would be borne by the rim a protective insert is disposed between an outer face of the first flange and the primary structural component and/or at least a portion of the first bead seat is spaced apart from the primary structural component and the primary structural component, bead seat and, if present, the protective insert are bound by a polymer matrix.

  • Patent number: 8053085
Abstract: A multilayer heat-shrinkable film having an uncommon but valuable combination of properties is disclosed. The film comprises a core layer of HDPE. Each skin layer comprises linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE), low density polyethylene (LDPE), or mixtures thereof. The core layer comprises greater than 80% by weight of a HDPE having an ER greater than 3.0, a MI2 from 0.1 to 1.0 dg/min., and a density from 0.940 to 0.970 g/cm3. The film has good shrink in the transverse direction, good appearance, and excellent stiffness.

  • Patent number: 7720459
Abstract: The remote collection of data for the account of an entity (2) uses a data communications network (26) operated by a third party (28) with respect to the entity. It is characterised in that the access to said data communication network (26) by the entity for remote data collection is governed dynamically by said third party (28) as a function of the spare data-carrying capacity of the communications network. The third party (28) may thus grant the entity (2) access to the communications network (26) when the level of the third party's own data traffic on said network is below a determined threshold value, corresponding to an occupation below peak capacity. The approach finds applications notably in the field of automatic meter reading (AMR), where the network operator, e.g. a cellular telephone operator, is a third party with respect to the utilities company (2), and the collected data is meter reading data from remote meters (14a-14g) sent via GPRS interfaces (16a-16d).

  • Patent number: 6488859
Abstract: A cross-linked water-insoluble ion exchange resin comprised of polymerized monomers having a phenyl ring is disclosed. A contemplated resin contains (i) polymerized phenyl ring-containing monomers having a phosphonic acid ligand linked to the phenyl ring, (ii) about 2 to about 5 millimoles per gram (mmol/g) of phosphorus as phosphonic acid ligands, and (iii) a sufficient amount of a sulfonic acid ligand such that the ratio of mmol/g of phosphonic acid to mmol/g sulfonic acid is up to 3:1. A process for removing polyvalent metal cations from aqueous solution, and a process for removing iron(III) cations from acidic copper(II) cation-containing solutions that utilize the contemplated resin or other resins are disclosed.
