  • Patent number: 10565720
Abstract: Disclosed embodiments include methods and systems for utilizing a structured projection pattern to perform depth detection. In some instances, the structured projection pattern forms a dot pattern, which is projected by a projector, wherein the projector includes one or more infrared (IR) light dot pattern illuminators for projecting an IR light dot pattern to a surrounding environment. The IR dot pattern light that is at least partially reflected off one or more objects in the surrounding environment is detected by one or more cameras attached to a head-mounted display (HMD). The HMD, which is physically untethered from the projector, utilizes the captured IR dot pattern light reflections to track movement of the HMD and/or perform depth detection of one or more objects in the environment surrounding the HMD.

  • Publication number: 20200039843
Abstract: A system and method to reboil a process or feed water stream in a distillation system does so in a liquid pool zone of a vessel as the stream is removed from a distillation column and comes into contact with a heating medium that is immiscible with and less volatile than the process stream. To keep the pool hot, the heating medium can be recirculated through a heater of a pump-around loop or a heater can be placed in the liquid pool. As the process stream is partially vaporized, any solids present in the process stream together with the unvaporized process or feed water stream move into the heating medium. These solids and unvaporized liquids may be further removed from the heating medium in the pool or in the pump-around loop. The vaporized stream is returned to the distillation column.

  • Patent number: 10542877
Abstract: The specification describes endoscopes that enable varying stiffness of an insertion portion in an endoscope assembly. In one example, an actuator operates either a spring or a flexible tube to vary stiffness of the insertion portion. In alternative examples, an elliptical wheel arrangement or screw mechanism provides a means to increase stiffness of the insertion portion of an endoscope assembly. In further examples, fluid and gas may be used inside the insertion potion to vary stiffness by varying pressure of the fluid/gas.

  • Patent number: 10525923
Abstract: A system includes a sensor, a controller, and a seatbelt retractor. The controller is programmed to receive a signal from the sensor indicating detection of a vehicle front oblique impact. The seatbelt retractor includes a load limiting mechanism selectively releasable from a high load mode to a low load mode. The controller is programmed to release the load limiting mechanism from the high load mode to the low load mode at a predetermined time in response to a signal from the sensor indicating a vehicle front oblique impact.

  • Publication number: 20200002192
Abstract: A method of sanitising seawater at a subsea location comprises: exposing flow of seawater in a treatment reactor to UV radiation that sanitises the seawater without the addition of sanitising chemicals; and outputting the sanitised seawater from the reactor into a subsea structure such as a pipeline or a wellhead. The flow of seawater may be exposed to successive emitters of UV radiation such as pressure-compensated LEDs. The efficacy of sanitisation may be determined by: injecting a tracer fluid into the flow of seawater upstream of the reactor; and, downstream of the reactor, sensing transformation of the tracer fluid due to exposure of the tracer fluid to the UV radiation in the reactor.

  • Patent number: 10491503
Abstract: An application-policy-based SDN controller system includes a first device running a first application, and a second device. Each of the first device and the second device are coupled to a SDN network via one of a plurality of networking devices in the SDN network. A first virtual application-policy-based SDN controller determines a first application communication flow path through the SDN network for first application communications that are between the first device and the second device and that involve the first application. The first virtual application-policy-based SDN controller then provides at least one application-policy-based flow rule to a first subset of the plurality of networking devices that are included in the first application communication flow path.

  • Publication number: 20190329355
Abstract: A method for fabricating a thrust chamber liner for a rocket engine commences with a ring made from a first material on a build plate. A base layer of a second material in powder form is deposited on the exposed axial end of the ring. A laser beam is directed towards the base layer and the ring such that energy associated with the laser beam melts the base layer and a portion of the ring adjacent to the base layer. A melted portion of the base layer intermixes with a melted portion of the ring. Following this step, additional layers of the second material are deposited on the base layer. The first axial end of the ring is then exposed and additional layers of the first material are deposited on the first axial end of the ring.

  • Patent number: 10453174
Abstract: An image registration system employs an endoscope and an endoscope controller. In operation, the endoscope generates an intra-operative endoscopic image of a vessel tree (e.g., an arterial tree or a venous tree) within an anatomical region, and the endoscope controller image registers the intra-operative endoscopic image of the vessel tree to a pre-operative three-dimensional image of the vessel tree within the anatomical region. The image registration includes an image matching of a graphical representation of each furcation of the vessel tree within the intra-operative endoscopic image of the vessel tree to a graphical representation of each furcation of the vessel tree within the pre-operative three-dimensional image of the vessel tree.

  • Publication number: 20190320035
Abstract: A request for a web page is received at a proxy server. The request originates from a client network application of a client device. The requested web page includes multiple references to multiple images. The proxy server retrieves the requested web page. The proxy server modifies code of the retrieved web page such that the client network application will not, for each one of those images, initially request those images when parsing the page. The proxy server also adds code to the retrieved web page that, when executed by the client network application, causes at least two of the images to be requested with a single request. The proxy server transmits the modified web page to the client device.
