  • Publication number: 20210197077
Abstract: A game controller integrates a trigger at a side of a planar controller housing, the trigger rotating within the plane of the controller housing about an axle disposed perpendicular to the plane. The trigger rotationally couples to the axle at a trigger bracket that fixedly coupled to a frame. • Publication number: 20210197075
Abstract: A game controller includes a joystick that accepts end user inputs and has illumination provided at the game controller surface encircling the joystick to provide indications to an end user, such as a locally-determined game controller status or a game application end user energy state. The illumination is provided from light emitting diodes disposed within the game controller interior on a flexible printed circuit board and coupled to a base of an annular light guide by a gasket to direct illumination into the annular light guide. Non-translucent treatment at the light guide on the game controller surface defines a translucent region at which illumination is presented.

  • Publication number: 20210034117
Abstract: A portable information handling system supports a flexible OLED display film over housing portions rotationally coupled by a hinge by folding the OLED display film over the hinge. Hinge brackets that couple to the housing portions each have a helical member that extends into an associated helical guide of the hinge main body. Hinge bracket rotation translates through the helical guides for synchronized housing rotation. The hinge main body has first and second circular portions extending along its length to define first and second rotation axes about which the hinge brackets pivot so that the display film has space to fold in the closed position.

  • Publication number: 20210034116
Abstract: A portable information handling system supports a flexible OLED display film over housing portions rotationally coupled by a hinge by folding the OLED display film over the hinge. Hinge brackets that couple to the housing portions each have a gear member with a semicircular shape gear inner circumference that engages a gear subassembly of the hinge main body. Hinge bracket rotation translates through the gear subassembly for synchronized housing rotation. The hinge main body has first and second semicircular portions with a smooth surface defined to accept the outer circumference smooth surface of the gear member semicircular shape at first and second rotation axes about which the hinge brackets pivot so that the display film has space to fold in the closed position.

  • Publication number: 20210034101
Abstract: A portable information handling system folds a flexible display over a hinge and selectively engages a brake that restricts hinge movement if a predetermined condition exists, such as a predetermined thermal state associate with potential damage to the flexible display. • Publication number: 20210034109
Abstract: An information handling system processes information with processing components disposed in housing portions rotationally coupled by a hinge and presents the information as visual images at a flexible display film disposed over the hinge to fold when the hinge rotates the housing portions from an open to a closed position. A bezel fits over the outer perimeter having a rigid portion and a flexible portion. The bezel flexible portion fits over the flexible display film at the hinge to support display film folding having managed torsional and compressive forces.

  • Patent number: 10817082
Abstract: A portable information handling system folds a flexible display over a hinge and selectively engages a stylus writing tip to make inputs at the flexible display based upon operating conditions of the flexible display. For instance, an information handling system communicates to a stylus a pressure constraint determined from current and historical operating conditions so that the stylus restricts excessive pressure from application to the display, such as by automatically selecting a writing tip with a greater surface area.
