Abstract: A machine and method for making bags is described and includes a web traveling from an input section to a rotary drum, to an output section. The rotary drum includes at least one seal bar, having a first sealing zone, and an adjacent weakening zone. The weakening zone may be a heated perforator, includes a heating wire, or be disposed to create an auxiliary sealed area. The heating wire can have, connected thereto, a source of power that is at an adjustable voltage or magnitude, and/or pulsed, and/or a feedback loop. The heating wire may be an NiCr wire and make intermittent contact with the web and be disposed in an insert. The weakening zone may create a line of weakness that is uniform or varies in intensity, is a separating zone, or includes a heat film, a toothed blade, a row of pins, a source of air, or a source of vacuum. The sealing zones may include temperature zones, cartridge heaters, cooling air, or heated air, or a source of ultrasonic, microwave or radiative energy.

Abstract: An interactive television system displays a television program having an associated channel. The system also displays an interactive television mode indicator if the displayed television program supports an interactive television mode. The interactive television mode is activated in response to a request from a viewer of the television program to activate the interactive television mode. The system updates a channel status list to indicate that the television program is being viewed in the interactive television mode. The system is also able to handle requests for activating an online television mode. When changing channels, the channel status list is used to restore a previously activated interactive television mode or online television mode for a particular television channel. Two different indicators may be displayed to indicate whether the television program supports an interactive television mode and/or an online television mode.

Abstract: An apparatus and method is provided for sensing which faults have occurred in a laser control system, as well as trapping and identifying the first fault occurrence. The apparatus includes an integrated circuit in which a mask register is set by means of a micro-controller or a host system to select which fault sources are to be recorded. A status bit register in which the fault indications are stored can also be interrogated by the micro-controller or a host system. A settable first fault status register determines whether every fault or only the first fault gets recorded.

Abstract: An apparatus for forming a panel of interconnected tubular vanes and cord ladders for use in a Venetian blind includes a vane-forming system where a strip of vane material is supplied, folded, and pressed into a desired configuration prior to being cut to a predetermined length. The length is determined by the width of the panel to be formed and is effected by a vane-sizing system including a template for positioning a plurality of cord ladder assemblies at predetermined locations for connection to tubular slats formed upstream from the assemblies. The tubular vane material has inert adhesive along a flap on one edge which is heated to activate the adhesive and after having been folded along a generally longitudinal centerline, the flap is folded over the corresponding upper edge of the vane and secured thereto in a sliding compressor.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for making bags, including winding bags, is disclosed. The winder includes spindles with sleeves. The sleeves may have holes, be non-stick, removable, and may be tapered. They can be fitted to existing machines.

Abstract: A conference call is established in response to receiving a request 4 from a first communication terminal 3a. The request 4 preferably is an SMS or MMS and comprises one or more identifiers 5, 6, 7, e.g. telephone numbers, relating to a plurality of other communication terminals 3b-3d. A conference call server I allocates a conference call channel and an associated identifier, such as a telephone number. Messages 10a-10c alerting the conference participants are then sent to the other communication terminals 3a-3c, each message including the identifier associated with the conference call channel. Access to the conference call may be restricted to authorised users by compating identifiers, such as CLIs, of incoming callers to the identifiers provided in the request 4 and allowing access only if there is a correspondence or match.

Abstract: An approach for alarm reporting is provided. An alarm from a first alarm feed and an alarm from a second alarm feed are received. A merged alarm is generated to provide a consistent view of an event corresponding to the alarm from the first alarm feed and the alarm from the second alarm feed. The merged alarm is stored for retrieval by a reporting system.

Abstract: An approach for supporting automated fault isolation and recovery is provided. A notification configuration option is transmitted to a browser interface utilized by a user associated with a customer network that is monitored by a service provider, wherein the user selects the notification configuration option to input notification information. The notification information is received, via the browser interface, from the customer. A notification message is received from a platform configured to create a workflow event in response to an alarm indicative of a fault within the customer network, wherein isolation and recovery of the fault is performed according to the workflow event, the notification message including information about the customer network during the fault isolation and recovery process. The notification message is transmitted in accordance with the stored notification information.

Abstract: An approach provides support for automatic fault isolation in a managed services system. A fault indication corresponding to a communications network of a customer is determined. An analysis is performed to determine a root cause of the fault indication using information associated with the determined fault to output an alarm. A determination is made whether the alarm is associated with a maintenance event to update the alarm. Further, a workflow event corresponding to the alarm is created.

Abstract: An approach for supporting automated fault isolation and recovery is provided. An alarm indicative of a fault within a customer network is received. An event within a workflow is created in response to the alarm, wherein a new trouble ticket is generated as part of the workflow. Communication with a trouble management system is performed to correlate the alarm with an existing trouble ticket. The new trouble ticket is associated with the existing trouble ticket.

Abstract: An approach for supporting automated fault isolation and recovery is provided. A workflow event corresponding to an alarm indicative of a fault within a customer network is generated. Recovery from the fault is automated according to the workflow event. Alarm information is transmitted to a maintenance management system, wherein the alarm information specifies information about the alarm. A maintenance event information from the maintenance management system is received in response to the transmitted alarm information. Additionally, it is determined whether the alarm is correlated to a maintenance event based on the maintenance event information. Automated handling of the alarm is differentiated based on the correlation.

Abstract: An approach for supporting automated fault isolation is provided. An alarm is received indicating a fault within a customer network that includes one or more network elements. The customer network being monitored by a service provider. A script is retrieved for specifying a dialogue with the network elements for data collection. A command is transmitted to the customer network according to the one script to obtain data from the network elements, wherein the data is utilized to determine the fault. Further, a workflow event corresponding to the alarm is generated, wherein resolution of the fault is automated according to the workflow event.

Abstract: A communication system includes communications equipment having a voice input device, an acoustic output device, and a visual display device. The communications equipment receives voice information from a user using the voice input device, converts the voice information into text, and communicates packets encoding the voice information and the text to a remote location. The communications equipment also receives packets encoding voice and text information from the remote location, outputs the voice information using the acoustic output device, and outputs the text information using the visual display device.

Abstract: Methods and systems provide for application of style properties/settings to one or more web page items, components, links, or other web page content. Use of an edit menu allows for the application of a selected style setting on a per-item basis or on an all-item basis and allows for the provision of a preview of the application of a selected style setting to a selected web page item. Through the use of a web page editing user interface, style settings may be applied to web page items through drag and drop operations and through application via conventional style setting application methods such as highlighting a selected web page item, followed by selection of a desired style setting.

Abstract: Methods and system provide for synchronously publishing a web page and its corresponding resources. Images, documents, files, and pages may be bound or tied to a parent web page which allows these resources to follow the parent web page lead as to whether or not they may be browsed, whether or not they may be moved, deleted, or renamed, whether edits made to these resources are published, or whether changes are undone or reverted to a prior version. Metadata associated with such resources may be sourced by a parent web page for maintaining up-to-date corresponding data in the parent web page.

Abstract: Methods, systems and computer-readable media are provided for organizing links on a web page via drag and drop operations. Single web page links or groups of web page links may be dragged from one location on a web page to another location on a web page or to another group of links on the web page. Links may also be dragged from a first web page or first client application document and may be dropped to a second web page on a same or separate web browsing application.

Abstract: In a headset audio speech signals are picked up by the microphone, where they are digitally sampled before being encoded by a vocoder. The coded speech data is then provided to a CRC module, where error correction data is added before the resulting data is encrypted by an encryption module. The resulting encrypted data is transmitted using a Bluetooth radio interface, by which the headset is connected wirelessly to a mobile telephone. Received data is decrypted by a decryption module, error corrected by an error correction module and decoded by a decoder, with the resulting audio signals then being reproduced at a speaker. When a user wants to instigate a telephone call with another telephone, the headset is caused to send a control signal to the mobile telephone instructing it to enter a data mode.

Each option is organized into either a category or a sub-category that is associated with a category. The association between categories and sub-categories is independent of time. Categories are displayed along one axis and sub-categories are displayed simultaneously along another orthogonal axis. The axis chosen for categories may depend on the direction that text associated with the categories is written. Categories and sub-categories are available for immediate selection, without first having to highlight or select any option. To account for a large number of options, categories and sub-categories may scroll as needed. The appearance of categories and sub-categories may be distinguished in some way, such as through colors, fonts, or borders.

Abstract: Disclosed embodiments include a mobile communication device that automatically receives signals indicating predetermined events, and automatically takes actions in response to the events. The actions include executing one or more software applications on the device. The applications include native applications and downloaded applications that are individually configured.

Abstract: A liquid transport system including a bag adapted to hold fluids, the bag being constructed of a flexible fabric. The bag has a top portion, a bottom portion and a sidewall portion forming an interior and exterior. The system includes a discharge port, a fill port and a series of injector ports on the bag providing fluid access to the interior of the bag from the exterior, where each of the ports are sealingly closable. The discharge port and the fill port are adapted to allow product to flow into and out of the bag, and the injector ports are adapted to accommodate an injector probe.
