Publication number: 20100211996Abstract: User sessions are authenticated based on locations associated with a user account used for sending a request for creating a session. Examples of locations of a source of a request include a geographical location, a network address, or a machine cookie associated with a device sending the request. Locations of the request are compared with stored safe locations associated with the user account and a suspiciousness index is determined for the session. The level of authentication required for the session is determined based on the suspiciousness index. Locations are associated with a reputation based on past history of sessions originating from the locations. A location associated with a history of creating suspicious session is considered an unsafe location. Reputation of the location originating the session is used to determine the level of authentication required for the session.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 23, 2009Publication date: August 19, 2010Inventors: Ryan McGeehan, Lev Timourovich Popov, Christopher William Palow, Robert J. Patent number: 7769740Abstract: The disclosure describes systems and methods of ranking user interest in physical entities based on the attention given to those entities as determined by an analysis of communications from devices over multiple communication channels. The attention ranking systems allow any “Who, What, When, Where” entity to be defined and ranked based, at least in part, on information obtained from communications between users and user proxy devices. An entity rank is generated for entity known to the system in which the entity rank is derived from the information in communications that are indicative of user actions related to the entity. The entity ranks are then used to modify the display of information or data associated with the entities. The system may also generate a personal rank for each entity based on the relation of the entity to a specified user.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 2007Date of Patent: August 3, 2010Assignee: Yahoo! Inc.Inventors: Ronald Martinez, Marc Eliot Davis, Christopher William Higgins, Joseph James O'Sullivan

Publication number: 20100191930Abstract: Transactional memory compatibility type attributes are associated with intermediate language code to specify, for example, that intermediate language code must be run within a transaction, or must not be run within a transaction, or may be run within a transaction. Attributes are automatically produced while generating intermediate language code from annotated source code. Default rules also generate attributes. Tools use attributes to statically or dynamically check for incompatibility between intermediate language code and a transactional memory implementation.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 26, 2009Publication date: July 29, 2010Applicant: MICROSOFT CORPORATIONInventors: Dana Groff, Yosseff Levanoni, Stephen Toub, Michael McKenzie Magruder, Weirong Zhu, Timothy Lawrence Harris, Christopher William Dern, John Joseph Duffy, David Detlefs, Martin Abadi, Sukhdeep Singh Sodhi, Lingli Zhang, Alexander Dadiomov, Vinod Grover

Publication number: 20100185518Abstract: A method for targeted advertisement is provided, for which one or more tags relating to an advertisement is/are accessed, one or more of the most representative activities for the tag(s) is/are determined, and the advertisement is targeted to the one or more most representative activities. In addition, for each of a plurality of tags, one or more of the most representative activities is/are determined based on term frequency-inverse document frequency, such that an activity is relatively more representative of a tag if the tag is more uniquely and/or frequently associated with the activity. Publication number: 20100185509Abstract: A method for ranking entities with respect to a tag for targeted advertisement is provided. For each entity to be ranked, a first score is calculated, which indicates the level of uniqueness the tag is to the entity. For each entity to be ranked, a second score is calculated, which indicates the number of people connected with the entity. For each entity to be ranked, a final score is calculated, which combines the first score and the second score. The entities are ranked based on their respective final scores. Optionally, the entity rankings may be used to determine the cost of advertisement for each entity and to recommend entities with respect to an advertisement.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 21, 2009Publication date: July 22, 2010Applicant: Yahoo! Patent number: 7757027Abstract: An integrated circuit 2 includes a transaction master 4 connected via interconnect circuitry 10 to a transaction slave 12. The transaction slave 12 generates a transfer-complete signal (R Last or B) to indicate completion of a data transfer (either a read or a write). When this transfer-complete signal has been received by the transaction master 4, then the transaction master 4 generates a complete-acknowledgement signal RACK, WACK, which is passed back to the transaction slave so as to acknowledge receipt of the transfer-complete signal.Type: GrantFiled: June 19, 2008Date of Patent: July 13, 2010Assignee: ARM LimitedInventors: Christopher William Laycock, Antony John Harris, Bruce James Mathewson, Richard Roy Grisenthwaite, Stuart David Biles
