  • Patent number: 7937936
Abstract: An exhaust component arrangement is provided for an off-road vehicle having an engine, a cab, a transmission connected to the engine, and a fuel tank adjacent the transmission. A portion of the fuel tank is positioned below a portion of the cab. The exhaust component arrangement includes a particulate filter unit, a NOx reduction unit, and an oxidation catalyst unit, all connected in series. The fuel tank has a recess formed in an upper surface thereof. A lower portion of one of the units is received in the recess. Preferably, a lower portion of the NOx reduction unit is received in the recess.

  • Publication number: 20100005822
Abstract: An air conditioning system for a vehicle includes an auxiliary compartment, and a secondary cooling circuit positioned within the auxiliary compartment. The secondary cooling circuit includes a radiator and an electric coolant pump assembly. An AC circuit includes an electric compressor assembly, a condenser, an evaporator, and an electric fan for blowing air through the evaporator. The compressor assembly and the condenser are each located within the auxiliary compartment. The condenser is configured as a refrigerant to coolant heat exchanger with a refrigerant flow path and a coolant flow path. The refrigerant flow path is in fluid communication with each of the compressor assembly and the evaporator, and the coolant flow path is in fluid communication with each of the coolant pump assembly and the radiator. The AC circuit and the secondary cooling circuit may be mounted to a common sub-frame which is removably attached to a cab of the vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20080178592
Abstract: The invention relates to an engine air intake system. There is a need for a simple and low cost device for aspirating a pre-cleaner in an engine air intake system. The system includes a pre-cleaner aspiration system for an engine intake air system having a turbo-compressor with a turbine and a compressor, a pre-cleaner and a filter. The aspiration system includes an air amplifier having an inlet, a throat, a nozzle in the throat, and an outlet. A first line communicates the inlet to a dirty air outlet of the pre-cleaner. A second line communicates compressed air from the compressor to the nozzle. The nozzle injects compressed air into the throat and creating a suction which is communicated to the pre-cleaner via the first line.

  • Publication number: 20080041046
Abstract: A waste heat recovery system is provide for a vehicle having a plurality of heat generating components and an engine cooling circuit. The system includes a heat collecting circuit collecting heat from the components and the engine cooling circuit, and a power generating circuit operating on a Kalina cycle. The heat collecting circuit operates with a first working fluid, and the power generating circuit operates with a second working fluid. The power generating circuit drives a turbine which drives an electric generator. A heat transfer unit transfers heat from the heat collecting circuit to the power generating circuit. The power generating circuit including an exhaust gas cooler for super-heating the second working fluid.

  • Patent number: 7325518
Abstract: A cooling system is provided for a vehicle having an engine. The cooling system includes a pair of heat exchangers, such as an oil cooler and a charge air cooler, laterally spaced apart from each other and located in front of a front end of the engine. A pair of blower units are in front of the coolers and blow cooling air rearwardly therethrough. A pair of duct units are located above the engine and to the rear of the coolers. Each duct unit includes a forward opening inlet receiving warmed air from the corresponding cooler, an upwardly opening outlet and a hollow housing extending from the inlet to the outlet. The outlets are spaced laterally apart from each other. A radiator is positioned above the duct unit housings and forward of the outlets. A set of radiator fans blow air upwardly through the radiator and are positioned between the radiator and the duct housings.

  • Patent number: 7322193
Abstract: An exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system is provided for an internal combustion engine having a combustion air intake circuit, an exhaust manifold, and an exhaust circuit for communicating engine exhaust to the environment. The EGR system includes an air-to-gas EGR cooler, an air supply conduit for supplying inlet air to the EGR cooler, an EGR supply conduit for communicating exhaust from the exhaust circuit to the EGR cooler, and an EGR outlet conduit communicating cooled EGR from the EGR cooler to the intake circuit. The EGR system also includes a venturi unit in the exhaust circuit, and an air outlet conduit communicating heated air from the EGR cooler to the venturi unit. Flow of exhaust through the venturi creates a pressure which draws cooling air through the EGR cooler. A valve controls flow through the outlet conduit as a function of a sensed temperature in the intake circuit.
