  • Patent number: 6770225
Abstract: Retroreflective prism sheeting is formed in a mold with textured facets and/or windows thereon. Smaller prisms are formed adjacent larger prisms. Optionally, the optical axis of the prisms may be tilted with respect to one another, preferably in a negative direction. The textured facets or windows provide more uniform retroreflected light intensity distribution and whiteness of the sheeting.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 9, 2001
Date of Patent: August 3, 2004
    Assignee: Reflexite Corporation
Inventors: Robert B. Nilsen, Christopher Alan Barnett, Nicholas John Phillips

  • Patent number: 6222157
Abstract: Apparatus for continuously micro-embossing a seamless precision optical pattern onto a moving substrate without the use of an intermediate layer, comprising an energy source, such as a laser, along with reduction optics, a mask and a moving substrate. The moving substrate provides both precision linear and rotational movement which motion is coupled with the laser projection imaging episode. Etched patterns can therefor be continuously and precisely ablated in the substrate to substantially cover the entire surface to uniquely micro-emboss therein a seamless precision optical image.
