  • Publication number: 20240101889
Abstract: The present disclosure provides methods and compositions for controlling asphaltenes in a subterranean formation. The compositions may include a halloysite nanotube. The nanotube has a lumen and a polymer, along with a charged surfactant, may be disposed in the lumen. A wax may be disposed on the nanotube. The wax may be disposed at either or both ends of the nanotube, thereby temporarily preventing the polymer and charged surfactant from leaving the lumen.

  • Publication number: 20240094152
Abstract: Methods for assessing the stability of asphaltene by measuring the field strength of the production fluid of asphaltene containing hydrocarbon stream have been developed. These methods can be used for monitoring of asphaltene control chemical application effectiveness during crude oil production and refinement.

  • Publication number: 20220340806
Abstract: The present disclosure provides methods and compositions for controlling asphaltenes in a subterranean formation. The compositions may include silica, a polymer, and optionally a charged surfactant. The compositions may also include a solvent or other additives. The methods may include injecting the compositions into subterranean formations and inhibiting asphaltene precipitation.

  • Publication number: 20220298407
Abstract: A deposit-inhibiting composition has been developed that provides an advantageous reduction in the deposits of solids in the near wellbore region, and in equipment and lines used for crude oil production and processing. The deposit-inhibiting compositions contain a surface-active component comprising a phosphate ester component, a sulfurized olefin component, or a combination thereof; a polyalkylene ester; and an imidazoline compound. The deposit-inhibiting compositions are particularly useful as flow agents for delivery to a subsea wellhead via an umbilical line.

  • Patent number: 11280779
Abstract: Methods for estimating the solvency potential for various chemical additives used for asphaltene deposit remediation or inhibition have been developed. These methods can be used for remediating or inhibiting asphaltene deposition in various applications including upstream production (e.g., near-wellbore, downhole, flow-lines, separators), midstream processes (e.g., pipe lines, transport, and storage), and downstream (e.g., hydrocarbon refining).

Date of Patent: March 22, 2022
    Assignee: ChampionX USA Inc.
