  • Publication number: 20140107531
Abstract: Systems and processes that incorporate teachings of the subject disclosure may include, for example, receiving, by a system including a processor, physical states of multiple anatomical locations of a body. Each of the physical states includes one of a position, an orientation, and motion, such as velocity or acceleration, or combinations thereof. A relationship between mental states and body configurations is accessed. A mental state, such as mood or emotion, is determined as the mental state corresponding to a body configuration matching the configuration of a portion of the body corresponding to the physical states of a group of the multiple anatomical locations. Data indicative of the mental state is provided, for example, to adjust another system or application, such as a contextual computer or entertainment system. Other embodiments are disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20140098116
Abstract: A method that incorporates teachings of the subject disclosure may include, for example, determining a viewing orientation of a first viewer in a viewing area from a plurality of images captured from the viewing area during a presentation of media content, determining whether an attentiveness level of the first viewer during the presentation of the media content is below a threshold by correlating the viewing orientation with the presentation of the media content, and performing an operation associated with the presentation of the media content at a display, where the operation is selected from a first viewer profile associated with the first viewer according to the viewing orientation responsive to determining that the attentiveness level is below the threshold. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Abstract: Methods, apparatus and articles of manufacture for distributing communication of a data stream among multiple devices are disclosed. Example methods disclosed herein include receiving a request from a first one of a plurality of devices to establish a shared connection to distribute communication of a first data stream among the plurality of devices. Such example methods also include establishing, in response to the request, respective data connections with the plurality of devices based on device capability information obtained from a system providing service for the plurality of devices. Such example methods further include splitting the first data stream into a plurality of partial data streams to be communicated to the plurality of devices via the respective data connections, the partial data streams, when aggregated, forming the first data stream.

  • Publication number: 20140040421
Abstract: Methods, apparatus and articles of manufacture for distributing communication of a data stream among multiple devices are disclosed. Example methods disclosed herein include sending a request to a network to establish a shared connection to distribute communication of a first data stream among a plurality of devices. The request is generated by a separate device that is different from the plurality of devices. Such example methods also include receiving, in response to the request, network addresses to be used to establish respective data connections with the plurality of devices. The respective data connections are to carry respective partial data streams forming the first data stream. Such example methods further include aggregating the respective partial data streams received from the plurality of devices via the respective data connections to form the first data stream.

  • Publication number: 20140029615
Abstract: Network-based content filtering utilizing user-specified parameters is disclosed. Example methods disclosed herein to perform network-based content filtering include receiving, at an incoming edge router of a provider network, incoming data to be routed in the provider network to a destination device, and before routing the incoming data in the provider network, determining whether to restrict the routing of the incoming data in the provider network to the destination device based on a parameter associated with the destination device, the parameter being related to a content classification of the incoming data.

  • Publication number: 20130141516
Abstract: Systems and methods are described that provide both a network-based, e.g., cloud-based, and apparatus based in-call command control for dynamically performing user commands such as voice commands or gesture commands. The result allows for hands free operation of a calling system including one where the user is located separate from a base station. The systems and methods provide for recognizing both voice and gestural commands. The systems and methods further provide for dynamically filtering commands so that commands are not perceived by those participating in the call. Further, the systems and methods provide for notifying the user, who has given the command, regarding the performance of the requested command.

  • Publication number: 20130124189
Abstract: A system and methodology that provides a network-based, e.g., cloud-based, background expert for predicting and/or accomplishing a user's goals is disclosed herein. Moreover, the system monitors, in the background, user generated data and/or publicly available data to determine and/or infer a user's goal, with or without an active indication/request from the user. Typically, the user-generated data can include user conversations, such as, but not limited to, speech data in a voice call, text messages, chat dialogues, etc. Further, the system identifies an action or task that facilitates accomplishment of the user goal in real-time. Moreover, the system can automatically perform the action/task and/or request user authorization prior to performing the action/task.

  • Publication number: 20100313119
Abstract: Techniques for configuring a dynamic document template and for generating formatted documents based thereon are provided. A data source is associated with a dynamic document template. Static text is inserted into the template. One or more placeholders are inserted in the template. Expressions may be associated with static text and placeholders in the template. Each expression may reference one or more data elements of the data source. One or more formatted documents may be generated based on the dynamic document template. In the case of placeholders, a data element referenced by an expression associated with a placeholder may be displayed in a formatted document in place of the placeholder in a display format (e.g., a color, a font type, etc.) selected according to the expression. Likewise, a display format of static text may be selected based on an expression associated with the static text.

  • Publication number: 20060168326
Abstract: In one configuration, the present invention is directed to an enterprise network that includes geographically dislocated first and second network regions 202 and 206 communicating with one another through first and second networks 252 and 248 and respectively comprising first and second gateways 220 and 224 and first and second groupings of trunks. A common electronic address is associated with the second grouping of trunks. A media server 200 is positioned in the first network region 202 that includes an inter-gateway routing agent 260. The first network region transmits, as part of the establishment of a real-time or near real-time communication between first and second subscribers respectively in the first and second network regions, the common address to the second gateway 224. After the outgoing communication is answered by the second gateway 224, the first network region transmits in band to the second gateway 224 a user identifier associated with the second subscriber and/or a phantom user.

A common electronic address is associated with the second grouping of links. In response to a request from a first subscriber to initiate a communication session with a second subscriber in the other network region, a media server 200 determines that the first network 252 is currently incapable of supporting the bearer channel for the session. In response, the first gateway 220 transmits the common electronic address to the second gateway 224.

  • Publication number: 20050267694
Abstract: A trace species detection system for engine health monitoring, the system including a laser for generating a laser beam, and optics for focusing the laser beam into an exhaust plume of an engine for thereby creating a spark in the exhaust plume. The system further includes spectral analysis instrumentation for detecting light emissions from the spark, and statistical processing instrumentation for analyzing data from the spectral analysis instrumentation for thereby identifying and quantifying specific particles within a volume of the spark. The invention also provides a method of monitoring the health of an engine, the method including generating a laser beam, focusing the laser beam into an exhaust plume of the engine for thereby creating a spark in the exhaust plume, detecting light emissions from the spark, and analyzing data from the detection for thereby identifying and quantifying specific particles within a volume of the spark.

  • Patent number: 6617967
Abstract: A piezoelectric transducer driving circuit has a main oscillator stage, a buffer circuit, and a voltage-doubling circuit. The main oscillator stage includes a frequency-swept signal generator that can be configured to provide different outputs to the buffers, which in turn provide the output to the voltage-doubling circuit, which supplies the piezoelectric transducer, causing it to mechanically deform and produce audible sounds of different types.
